I've tried that. Doesn't work. I'm pretty sure I've tried 7.0.1 too. That didn't work either. I think 7.1 worked, but I'm pretty sure I had to slip in System Enabler 401 to get it to run on my CC.
I guess after the Mac Paint code was released it was only a matter of time. It would be nice if a lot more stuff was opened up.
I wonder if anyone's doing anything with the old code and if any side projects will result?
Hey, can't believe I posted that question over a year ago! Anyone ever find a list of what the error codes are? I regularly get a code -84. I usually toss the disk assuming it's bad floppy, but would love to know what that error code means in case it's a hardware thing.
Anyone?
No, it doesn't work on the 1.5GHz model. The previous owner said it never worked and that he always used it with a mouse. Although I don't know if he was the original owner. I picked up a replacement trackpad for it, but that never worked either. Must be the logicboard. The 867 Model I bought...
This PowerBook is sweet. The battery is toast though. I just played Dark Castle in Mini vMac for about 2 hours. The machine runs solid. Good news too, I scored a new high score!
Couldn't get past BK2 though. Next time.
I received the PowerBook in the mail over the weekend. Much to my surprise, the PowerBook came shipped in the original box. No mention of that was in the auction, so that was a nice bonus.
Looking at the laptop, I see that one corner by the display is a little dinged up, but nothing that you...
Thanks!
There's no real science to it. I start with a bucket of warm water. Add about 3 scoops of Oxy and then pour in about a 1/4 of that peroxide bottle. I then mix it up so that the Oxy dissolves. I then add my parts and leave it in the sun.
About an hour later, I check on it. If it doesn't...
I've done a ton of stuff with retr0brite. Have a look to give you an idea of what to expect:
Apple Scribe Printer
M2115 External Drive
SE Keyboard
Apple //c
Floppy Drives
CH Products Joystick
Mac Color Classic
Pro Keyboard
80SC External SCSI
You'll be glad you didn't paint it. You can...
All Macs up to the SE/30 have the case signed. It's not worth any more than any other SE. Personally, I wouldn't paint it. I'd only retr0brite it. If you paint it, it'll have zero resale value, so you won't be able to sell it /trade it in the hopes to get a better machine. Either retr0brite, or...
I check eBay several times a day and I can say the "average" price of a classic Mac is $100 bucks. I just checked, stopped counting at 22, but all but one are over $100. Sure, you can find units for $50, but they usually have a problem (or no keyboard/mouse). More often than not, SEs, Pluses...
So there's no possibility I ordered the wrong trackpad? I'm sure they would have had a different connector. Is it safe to assume if it fit, then it was indeed for the 1.5GHz model?
In my opinion, it's a sin to purposely destroyed or deface a vintage Apple product for the fun of it. Unless, it's beyond repair. Any hacks/mods done should be reversible. Case in point: the mac-o-lantern.
This was a sweet mod, but there was absolutely nothing wrong with those Macs. Not...
I used two different trackpads with two different cables, so it must be on the logicboard end. Maybe a mashed pin or something on the logicboard?
I just scored another 12" on ebay for $25 bucks. The guy said it stopped working after he dropped it. Whatever that means. There doesn't seem to be...
I picked up a pretty sweet 12" PowerBook G4 1.5GHz in the box a year ago. The user told me that the trackpad never worked. I figured it was probably a matter of just swapping out the trackpads with a replacement. I got the PowerBook and opened it up. It looks like the previous owner tried his...
