I don't think so - you'll have to download an emulator if you want to play some Castlevania on the Mac.
I have done this, BTW. Castlevania - Symphony of the Night has been played many times on my old iBook and DA G4. And in case you're wondering, it's quite possibly one of the best games ever...
I dunno - I don't see the point of spending my time dealing with eBay unless I stand to make hundreds or thousands of dollars on an item. Which I'm not going to do on a 68K machine.
So I'd much rather just send my stuff to people like you guys for the price of shipping or a little more. At...
I like things the way they are, and I'm a 68k purist. I'm a big believer in the "if it ain't broke" philosophy, and I don't see anything wrong with how things are now.
JMO.
LOL! Touche!
Interesting benchmarks. It brings up a question though - didn't all the Quadra 650s have a full 040 in them? It's benching as though it doesn't have an FPU. Or did you transpose the 0 and 5 and that same Quadra 605 is being used for the FPU baseline?
You're right of course, but as this board's protector of all things System 6, it's my responsibility to make sure that everyone with a 6.x capable Mac run the right OS. System 7 is NEVER the right OS for a Mac II series machine. :)
I'd be interested in this, only because I've heard that older versions of MPW shipped with the older versions of CW.
I want a version of MPW that'll run under 6.x. If someone has a version of CW that has this version of MPW, I'd happily buy it from them.
It dismays me that System 7.x (or heaven forbid 8.x) is mentioned in the same post as a IIci.
God intended that a IIci be run under 6.x. Booting a IIci into 7 or later is like putting a sweater on your cat. Yeah, you may think it's cute, but your cat hates you for it. Trust me, your IIci hates...
According to the folklore, the jump from $500 to $1995 was pretty much because of RAM prices, the decision to go with the 68000 instead of the 6809, the Sony FDD that cost more than the Twiggy, and so on. That $500 target started before the Mac was nothing more than an idea, and the requirements...
Yeah, the 160 did have a video out port. Back when I was in my Powerbook phase, I'd routinely swap out the innards of one book and put it into the (better looking, less beat up) case of another. So I'm guessing that's what happened here.
My Inspiron has a latch that has to be placed in the 'unlock' position, and then another sliding latch that releases the battery, which just falls out.
What's the point of vintage computing at all? I love my PB170, which is essentially a black and white IIci without the slots. This IIgs hack is awesome, IMO.
