I wuldn't think the shock from a Compact Mac's CRT would be that bad; the flyback transformer "only" supplies 15kV or so, compared to 30kV or more for a 15" color monitor.
The 150s have a darn good screen. Although it is passive matrix like my 165, it's much brighter and clearer.
My 150s in shambles; it has no screen housing, just a screen hanging from some cables. The trackball falls out, the keyboard is terrible, etc. Whatever shall I do with it...
I tried to paint my Performa 575 black ---uuughh bad idea. It looked awful, so awful I didn't regret throwing it out (after removing the HD and mobo, of course).
I guess I'll pop the good PRAM battery out of my Centris 650...it has soft power so it maintains its settings if plugged in.
Some mud dobbers got into one of the screw holes and I can't seem to get the last screw out > :-( That's why I keep my Macs in my room now and not in the garage!
I just cleaned out my Classic and installed a fresh copy of System 6.0.8L (or whatever the Classic-only version is). I've found that a Classic is bearable as long as you don't put 7 on it.
Anyways, the main problem is the dead PRAM abttery. Is there a way to automatically restore my Control...
Wait...I've researched the 575/580 video debate. Yes, the 575 has a better monitor, but doesn't the 580 have faster VRAM? I believe the 575's dedicated VRAM runs at 70ns while the 580's shared VRAM runs at 60ns.
Chances are you've heard it. UUUU--UUscht--RRRUUK-*Beep*--RUTCH!!
What does the sound of the infamous MiniScribe HD remind you most of? Yeah, this is a geeky thread, but this is also a geeky forum. ;)
It is most likely the motherboard connector. Macs with slide-out motherboards can be extremely tempermental. I've had to slide out and shove in the motherboard ten times before I could get it to power on correctly on one of my LC 580s. Vacuum it out again and keep trying...
No, my card has 2 USB 2.0 ports and a 5VDC power plug.
I tried the card in both slots - and the PB has all of the needed USB extensions. I'll try some other cards, the PB also came with a CompactFlash PCMCIA reader.
I booted with the "OS 9.2.2 Base" set and faced the same troubles. I guess I'll have to send files to and from my mini via Ethernet, then. Does anyone here successfully use another brand of USB PC Card with their WallStreet?
Yeah, I think I'll get a 14.1" screen w/ good hinges if I can find one (without horrible case/tuxedo scratching) on Ebay. Another option is to find a MainStreet with one of these displays - it might be cheaper and come with RAM/battery to boot :-)
This PB has all kinds of obscure database and networking apps on it - it could very well be an extension conflict. I'll try booting with just the Apple base extensions. I can't really re-install and reformat; I don't have an OS 9.2.2 CD to re-install from.
I have an IOGEAR Cardbus USB 2.0 PC Card for my WallStreet I, which runs Mac OS 9.2.2. When I insert the card, sometimes it's recognized, sometimes it's not, and sometimes the whole PB locks up. If it is recognized, I insert my Flashdrive. It is never recognized, and sometimes locks up the...
