Rebuild the desktop, I think it's the hard drive. Try swapping the drive or formatting the drive, or fixing the drive, ie:- rebuild the desktop.

I love my Powerbook 540c.... Well I like the look of it. It came with Apple os 8.1 & it came with all bits and bobs & I've tried to cut down the size of the os (loosing extentions) I assumed it would do word processing without any hassle. I use Microsoft word 5.0 on my quadra 650...

I don't have a handle on my Powerbook 540c. I carry it ok, apart from when it slips from my hands. My Fontwriter has a handle, it's twice the size of the powerbook and weighs quite a bit too........ I may hold the handle but I hold the machine with the other hand. A strong moulded handle grip...

This is an old mac forum (or maybe your 68k liberation is new to you! :)) These forums arn't ebay affiliated as far as I've noticed. I agree the two can overlap, but ebay is such a prominent entity I'd suggest keeping ebay & 68kmla as seperate as possible..... check the thread stating...

I'm in on the 80 by 80, 40k. If you want art then make it, if it's a good piece of art you can make it work in 80 by 80 40k? Lets see who gets the most recognisable avatar

whenever I've encountered avatars they've allways seemed overkill to me; ie:- they take an age to load. I don't know why that is cos they're only a small graphic........ So I do like the idea of avatars, but I don't want a web page that's still loading 2 mins after I get there.

keep the 68k intro page simple..... simple enough for a 68k to handle with ease & dare we say a basic 68000 machine should be able to handle it, though I guess there's not many of them on the net? but a picture can say a thousand words, and it dosn't have to move or do anything wierd...
