Oh bummer, it looks like the IIci has only clearly supports 1 MB of address space for ROM:

Interestingly, the address space directly after that spills into NuBus slot $9...
I'm pretty sure that the LCIII ROM didn't boot my IIci, so this makes me question how much IIci stuff is retained into it. dougg3 may have tried this too, I don't recall for sure.
Is the cache card known to require ROM intervention? This is something like a PDS connection to the IIci cache I...
What would happen if you put 2x 1GB sticks in there, would you get 2GB, or would each stick be limited to 512MB, so you'd get only 1GB?
I don't know about you but I'm holding out for memristor technology to take off.
Using a VGA display is pretty far from being an authentic experience. If you want to have a super-sharp display for an Apple IIc+, you could look into IIc+ emulators that will run on your modern computer. Because the Apple IIc+ is such a low resolution, emulators may even provide filters that...
This seems like a 32-bit limitation. The maximum addressable memory with 32 bits is 4 GB, and it seems that you could not have a full 4 GB of RAM because some address space must be reserved for other things, such as ROM and peripherals.
For 4+ GB of RAM, you generally have to look at computers...
I could not wrap my head around what you were saying until you spelled it out like that. That is very clever, definitely the best method to fix it and really not hard to do at all. I'm sure I will do exactly what you described at some point in the future.
The Mac IIfx is the one that needs the special "black" terminators, isn't it? Does anybody know what makes black terminators different? Is it active vs. passive or is it something else? It would theoretically be pretty easy to modify a little adaptor board once to have a black terminator and...
Another option if you aren't experienced with soldering would be to get another socket that has the same pin arrangement, seat your Sonnet card into this new socket, and simply glob some solder onto that broken pin to connect it through to the new socket. This would be very easy to do and it...
I think that if you're really careful and set up a bit of a jig, you could solder your broken pin piece back on.
One idea would be to poke your pin piece slightly through a piece of masking tape, then stick the tape to the ends of the other pins, so that the broken pin is lined up where it is...
I think teams get a lot of stuff done if they're serious all the time, and they have a lot of creativity if they goof off a lot. Apple's edge has always been creativity and I think some of these pictures demonstrate where it came from! :)
This is a test to see if it is possible to attach binary files in this forum by means of JPEG. To see if it works, download the attached image and expand it with:
unrar x archive.jpg
Or possibly rename it to archive.rar and double-click it.
This picture came from a 7.6.1 installation but appears to have come from an erased file on the hard drive. When I mount sheepshaver's hard drive image and create a new disk image from it with Disk Utility, this picture is not included in the new disk image. I think that the installer may have...
Thanks LCGuy. I'll post them here from now on.
There are also some of these that I posted in the secret startup sound thread if you would like to move those here too:
