I've been having some irritating troubles with my OrangePC 660 card. I've thus far gotten it to halfway boot into the PC environment exactly one time. The one time it "worked" this is what happened:
Ran the OrangePCi application (forgot to delete the preferences from the last time I ran my...
I'll probably max out the RAM and put a modern 7200 RPM UltraSCSI drive in it. I have a few NOS Seagate drives I picked up as a lot of 4 recently for $20 a piece. The drive itself should definitely be able to outperform the SCSI bus it's attached to, and should feel pretty snappy. I put one in...
Howdy,
So, I'm going to be repurposing my 8100/100 in my collection, and replacing it in my display setup with a Quadra 840AV. I'll move my Radius VideoVision, SuperMac Thunder/24 + DSP, and DigiDesign AudioMedia II from the 8100 to the 840.
So the multimedia workstation display will be...
Oh, I had this problem constantly too and I eventually fixed it. The Rocket environment would startup and then just freeze. I'm trying to remember what the remedy was. I think it has something to do with the networking stack and making sure that the host Mac had the right things turned on or off...
@DarthNvader I thought maybe I couldn't get OF output to my display because I was using a Formac Proformance3 as my alternate video card and suspected that its "pre-boot" support might be somewhat sketchy being that it's such a niche card with a niche chipset. So, I found the original IMS...
Alright. I've finally been able to get around to setting the machine back up, pulling my cards out of storage, and trying a few things. First, I was able to grab the ROM from the 1.13b Control Panel and make a ROM file that the aforementioned flasher tool would accept and flash to the card. I...
Is it this one?

Unfortunately, as a motivation for getting around the high price of 040 upgrades these days, I don't think going to an 060 helps with affordability. Prices on 060 CPUs are crazy high.
Yep, that's a cable for Apple & Reply DOS Compatibility Cards.
I have a few here. If you can tell me the model number, I can tell you if it's the version for a PDS or PCI card (as they're annoyingly not the same).
Yep, that was the first thing I attempted to do with my PC Voodoo5 card many moons ago. The Control Panel wouldn't even recognize the card. Maybe it's the PCI Vendor & Device ID spoofing. I can try that.
I also tried using the text-based Mac flashing tool (that I can't find right off hand right...
FWIW, I've attempted to use that Mac Flasher Voodoo4 tool in the past with a properly extracted Mac Voodoo5 ROM and it didn't work. Wouldn't even flash.
Then you'll love this spicy fella. The self-immolating power of the Interware Booster MP 400 !!! Having run this thing briefly in my PowerTower Pro to verify its operation I'm pretty sure that the imagery on the box is to metaphorically capture both the feeling of power in wielding dual 200 MHz...
And about that SE/30 24-bit PDS graphics card, here's the Interware VDR-2A.
It'll do 24-bit at 640x480, and it's really fun to setup a small color display next to an SE/30 for games and playing with some era appropriate low-end desktop publishing. Driving 24-bit color with the stock CPU...
I have one SE/30 that I actually use and one spare that I'll probably sell after I get it recapped. I also have too many possible ways to give them Ethernet network connectivity. I really should relieve myself of most of these at some point.
Like an Asante MacCon+ SE 30/Et...
...and an...
I'm only guessing that these little add-on boards are 040 PDS cards, FWIW. For all I know those custom Radius ICs could be providing some kind of bespoke I/O subsystem.
Yeah! I have the IR printer for it too and all the original manuals and advanced programming manual.
When I was a teenager I had the 48G (still have it and it also still works), but I always lusted after the 48GX. When the pandemic started and I decided that I was going to start my vintage...
