so thats good to hear!
idk when i can start this build. its 35+ parts orders from like 15+ companies in 4 countries...
top is a digitial audio or quick silver - bottom is a G4 agp/pci.
if someone had the physical systems id love to get some better measurments off them. i got the current measurments by taking top down photos, scaling them on my screen to match a ram stick to the slot and then measuring. im...
i have a 6300CD as well, thats the system ill tear apart. my plan is to plasma out some 16ga sheet metal bead roll it and weld it into some type of tab style interface like the system had to start with. ill need to fab mounts for CD/GPU/and SSD mounts.
rihgt now im researching using a quick...
really? thats good to know. im not sure what im doing yet. i dont own any of this hardware. i started wtih a 6360 but even with upgrades - not what i want. so now im looking to mod a G3/G4/quick silver/digital audio into a 630CD case.
there are SO MANY different versions of these computers...
question: i was thinking of using the zif G3 as my base. now i have found some usb to adb adaptors that keep the soft power button working.
i have a pci 9200 already.
but, would i be better off sourcing a 8500 AGP and building off a MDD or quick silver or just newer gen G4?
my plans were a...
sweet. im considering changing my build plan - maybe -
i was thinking of a zif socket G3 and upgrade but now im considering an MDD or quick silver and mod that to fit into a small forum factor case.
update: i found some specs on these cpu's.
the 7445 has the same # of pins but a different pinout - the L2 cache built in also change voltage requirements. maybe an adapter riser and voltage mod could fix this? but it wont work directly.
the 7410 has a different voltage requirement for the L2...
ive read that running a CPU up and around 800 or so mhz on the B&W towers will kick the bus back to 66mhz. due to this im considering a 500 or so mhz cpu upgrade.
the question i have: can i take the zif G3 board and solder any of the CPGA 360 G4 chips to it? or do i need a G4 zif card to start...
thank you for the info.
do you know if the G3 to G4 cpu itself changed pinout? if i have a 350mhz G3 zif socket board and desolder the CPU itself from this board - then take a G4 7455 cpu off its daughter board @ 700/800/1000Mhz - and ball/solder it onto the G3 board - will it function?
my...
i have a 6360 with G3 L2 from interware (japan version @ 240mhz) and both a 7000 radeon (64mb flashed) and 9200 128mb mac version. cards will work stand alone but when paired with the G3 card.... no dice.
system boots, hits mac os loading screen, extension for G3 card loads, system reboots...
just to throw this in the ring: i got a L2 card 240 Mhz g3, 128 ram, and a 9200 radeon for my 6360. i also got a 7000 radeon and a rage 128. i can not, for the life of me, get either the 7000 or 9200 to function with the G3 addon card. the system will not make it to the desktop....
rage 128...
ok, so ive been doing some research. i do not think i can make a beige G3 board fit, too much stuff in teh way.
so a G3 BW is what im leaning towards. will a usb to ADB adapter work on a G4? will the power button on the keyboard work to turn them on and off?
i see there are G3 processors up to...
i found a sonet card but its 390.00 for the mac version on a referb site. more than im willing to pay.
this card here claims its bootable, anyone tested this? https://www.ebay.com/itm/254669346388?hash=item3b4b79d654:g:7csAAOSwgYpdMbyJ
for a 3rd option - which pc cards can i swap the rom chip...
ive been researching a bit. the power supply in these is VERY hard to find a replacement for.... 20A on both 3.3 and 5V? server PSU's have close to this but most of those are 600+ watts. the fact this factory PSU is only 8 or so amps on the 12V rail is crazy to me. most PSU's that have 18A on...
what is a "yikes board"?
yea im looking at running games from escape velocity to quake 3 and warcraft 3.
my plan was maybe to pickup a raw board (G3) and then ebay a 500-800Mhz G3 or G4 cpu, then use my PCI radeon 9200.
i dont want to give up the ADB port as i want to keep my classic...
