yea, i 3d modeled it roughly before i took the plunge
making the front performa panel buttons work on the G4 board was a project:
some work in layout:
wiring in the new front speaker. dayton audio on a 50W class D amp in a ported fiberglass enclosure up front.
custom power supply and...
just want to throw this out there - in my G4 performa build ive used a cheap class D 12v amp to peg off the headphone (line out) 3.5mm jack and amp a dayton audio speaker. you could use fiberglass to make a speaker enclosure in there and stick a small amp to it once you have that input. it...
just wanted to say that ive seen that on Nvidia cards as well. on mine it was a simple reball of the memory chips and they started working again. incase you still have yours - seems the solder joints break from heat cycles id guess?
i thought i would chime in with my QS - i have two of them now. got them a year ago and that was my first entry into this kind of mac. id had a performa as a kid but once windows 98 hit; i was a PC kid.
so i have a 800mhz QS that came with an 8500 and 4 scsi drives. i havent used any...
ok, kool. im skimming ebay right now for g3 cpu's i may try swapping that 240mhz on the intergen for a 400mhz or so. we will see. im trying to find some 7455b cpu's for my qs right now. struggling.
ill give it a try next time i get it running. that 9200 only worked in my G4 with the DVI drivers. everything else locked up. im using quake 3 time demo to test.
i think i have a 128 ssd in the 6360
i have not tried the different opengl versions, so that will be on my list.
what happens is...
yea, i can see that. i wish i could get either the 7000 or 9200 working. right now im using the 9200 in a dual 1.3Ghz G4 with 150mhz bus. its a strong card on 10.5.9 and 9.2.2. it blows the AGP Geforce 2 out of the water.
its nearly 75% the speed of a 8500 AGP radeon. which really surprised...
ok, im going to order a 50mhz crystal to bump the bus. start there. then i have a G3 card that i need to figure out the clocks on. after that ill move onto the video card.
in my G4 the 9200 tests pretty low in benchmarks for 2D BUT it handles 3D just fine. so i may try modding the extensions...
has anyone on here heard of overclocking the bus on the 6360?
also has anyone successfully gotten the 9200 radeon to fully function with a G3 upgrade card? i never made that work on mine.
i just found something else. the VGA port does not load as primary in the OS. so you get a blank desktop on startup. teh DVI with VGA adapter will bring you to desktop (how i was running it) however - the DVI digital does not work. wont pickup on any of my screens so i need to figure out wth is...
i would suspect any 109 card with all its pipelines working would work. i think people must run into issues with those 4 pipelines... back when i was a kid i got a X800 vivo that i flashed to an X850xtpe when i really had no idea what i was doing. so i had some working knowledge from back in...
update:
150mhz bus with dual 1.12Ghz G4 on SSD to IDE.
X800pro PC card that i got off ebay.
loaded in 10.5.12
in my searching i could not find good info on what would or would not work. i hunted for a VIVO edition (video in/video out) as i had one of these as a kid. ATI binned their GPU...
well it seems to be mostly stable. occasional lockups but on the basic games it looks ok? its not in the final computer yet so... thats the next step, im still on my test bed.
once i get it in i need to work out cooling and then ill burn in a halo bench or something
i got the ti4600 to boot. im stress testing things now, x and 9.2.2 the 8500's will not boot off the riser for what ever reason... i have no idea.
i also dont know if this will be stable if its a signaling issue. but if its not stable... i cant think of what else it could be?
