Video adjustment tool (part number 949-0386)

I assume one of the tools in this pack is a match: http://www.ebay.com/itm/281929165928

Restoring files from dormant HFS volumes (Bring out yer dead!)

Norton Unerase is the main one I remember, it came with Norton Utilities (and Norton SystemWorks) which is easy to find on the Garden. Definitely pull the drives out and hook them up externally, don't boot off of them.

    Building Pararena 2 from source

John Calhoun released the source code for a couple of his classic games on GitHub back in January, but I didn't see any howtos or mentions of other people successfully building them. I made a walkthrough of how to build Pararena 2 inside Basilisk running on OS X...

DVD version of Tiger for G5 install?

I'm pretty sure that 10.4.6 DVD is a full installer, not just an update. I have original DVDs of both 10.4.0 and 10.4.6 I can upload if it's not.

    Should I avoid LC machines?

There's a lot of nice machines there--you should make a thread for this sale in the Trading Post. (or a mod could move this thread there). - like others have said, keep an eye out for IIe cards (any of the LCs will take them) - 575s are valuable if only for their logic boards (often used to...

    USB Ethernet and OS 9

All the OS 9-capable G4s with gigabit ethernet used Apple UniNorth/GEM Ethernet, which they never sold as a PCI card. But apparently there are OS 9 drivers for Realtek 8169-based cards, which are gigabit capable. ...

    ADB Switch

There's been some other threads about using S-video switch boxes for ADB, and I'm not sure anyone has had success with it. https://www.thinkclassic.org/viewtopic.php?id=633 http://www.applefritter.com/?q=node/6348

    USB Ethernet and OS 9

I took a look at SMC's site at archive.org and found that product, but no OS 9 drivers are listed (and other data sheets don't list OS 9 compatibility). It probably uses the RTL8150 chipset (which other sites list as having OS 9 compat), but I haven't found any drivers. I think your only...

Extract icons from pre-OS X mac apps

Rezilla is a resource editor that will run on OS X Intel. Also, GraphicConverter (at least older versions) can open any file with a resource fork and display/export the PICT and icon resources.

    Fixing 520c hinge mounts

I picked up a 520c on eBay recently, it's in good condition except that the left-hand hinge standoffs/screw threads (part of the screen lid) are broken. I think they had already been glued before, I glued them back together using epoxy (some Loctite plastic bonding stuff) but it broke pretty...

    mrpippy's finds

I've been wanting to post some pictures of my finds, and thought I would start with my haul from the sale in Orange, CA (see the Craigslist Finds thread).    Mac86 for SE, still sealed! Also B&W Connectix QuickCam, Descent (with a signature on the front, looks like "Mark Allinder" or...

    Micron Xceed docs on ebay

Months ago on eBay, someone was selling schematics/documentation for a Micron IIci cache card, must have been the same guy. He also sold schematics for a NuBus image compression card at the same time as the SE/30 card. If anyone gets a response, ask if he's got any more documents/schematics he...

USB peripheral support in Classic OS

Any Mac that has on-board USB ports supports USB keyboard/mice, with any OS version that Mac can run. This means back to OS 8.1 for the original iMac, 8.5.1 for the B&W G3.

    Mac IIfx surprise packet

Believe it or not, I stopped today at a local thrift store which never has interesting electronics, and found a Radius VideoVision break-out box just like the pictures in this thread! The connector is a female DE15, same as a video-card side VGA monitor connector. PM me if you're interested  :)

    SE/30 worked until it didn't

Agree with everyone else, that board will need new caps. But even after I recapped my SE/30 board, I still had problems with it rebooting after a few minutes and sometimes going to checkerboard at boot. My board has a socketed 68030, and removing/reseating the CPU has fixed all the remaining...

    Alaska's Collection

I think they're both PDS, the label on the video card EEPROM says "8•24 PDQ si". Surprised to see an AAUI connector for Ethernet, although I guess it's the only thing that would fit

    Macintosh Color Classic repair adventure

I had a single corroded via which prevented my CC from booting. I used a multimeter and just probed different vias on each side of the board--with the board on its end, you can make sure the probes line up in both dimensions. You need pretty small probes though, and even then I often had to...
