Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
If I may also add:
You can use Sawtooth/Gigabit Ethernet CPUs in a Digital Audio without any changes at all. Apple System Profiler may say it is running slow but other programs can generally detect it properly. (I have personally tested this, including changing the resistors and running...
This only has Quake 3 and UT99, but look at the high res quake test:

This also has GF4Ti vs some slower cards:

I am pretty sure that the best card for OS 9 and OS X together is still the GF 4Ti.
Also, there is no card that supports core image in OS X as well as being old enough for OS 9 drivers. Just so you know. (but you can still get Quartz Extreme&OS 9 support with one card)
You best option is...
For OS 9:
GF4Ti
For OS X:
GF7800GS
Radx800/x850
GF6800

Right now I have a GF6200 in my Digital Audio but I have a GF6800 Ultra or Radeon x800 Pro waiting to be flashed.
I am no electrical/software engineer and this is all over my head.. but what happened with the suggestion someone had about loading the fakedisk into a ram chip and just editing that.. then writing RAM contents to the card at user's discretion or during inactivity or whatever?
Did you say you...
Just for fun, can you toss an IDE-CF adapter onto the AEC-7720U? (nothing with any fancy chips, just nice and passive)
It will likely not give better results, but just for the sake of curiosity and to deal with any questions about how the AztecMonster itself actually does stack against a normal...
Well, SCSI on Macs is slow anyway. *IF* you can get a firewire card I would go for that. I have a Macally FH-BUS2 and it does work under OS 9, I am sure there are others out there too but I did not see others on OWC's site when I checked.
How about you use this(OS 9 compatible)...
To be perfectly honest, yea, I could try to link you to one listed on a Canadian or American site, but being in Japan I would kiiinda suggest looking locally before committing to paying shipping costs.. though I do not know the availability of these things over there.
And I would like to say...
Either use a desktop Mac or even just one with USB.. or you could get a USB CardBus card and one of those little $15-$30 SATA/PATA -> USB boxes(OWC and most online PC stores have them) and use that.
Alternatively format. Starting fresh may not be a terrible idea.
The only issues I have had with After Dark (v2 IIRC) Star Trek Edition (TOS) was, as far as I recall Multimodule not working and some modules require 256 colours.. not sure if randomizer works but pretty sure that is all, it does not crash.
However, that does not mean other ones are the same...
By default there is only 25 posts per page.. if you guys keep going on about page numbers eventually you will have enough that they artificially inflate the count. :p
While you guys are faffing about with FWB junk I am quite looking forward to seeing benching being done with other programs.
Could someone please actually look into HDD results from MacBench and Norton Util's thingybenchyapp?
Also, Udo.Keller, I would like to ask that you please refrain from...
If it lets you then perhaps try hitting the enter key if it defaults to ok/save/etc or try esc to hit cancel.. but IDK how far back that sort of stuff goes or what OS you are using.
I had meant more along the lines of what you were doing after gettign them connected. all I hear is something about siri, but I have no idea how that ties into an old mac and the video = expensive bandwidth.
The thing about electronics recyclers is that, at least where I am, if someone says "recycle only" their hands are tied. You cannot touch it and it goes straight onto the pallet. Also, they generally do not have the means or knowhow to test old Macs nor are they willing to bring on a special...
I actually recently tried hotswapping on mine and it did work, even though previously I seem to recall it did not.. idk what the deal is but if it works for you then great. :p
