SCSI to Ethernet Adapter on New Hardware

Have you made any more progress on this?  This is a really great idea, and there are a ton of machines lacking easy access to Ethernet. - Alex

    Floppy Emu Disk Emulator Updates

Actually, the IIc can support SmartPort drives (IIgs-style) natively, and so can the IIe, given an appropriate controller card. Having now read the other thread (sorry that I missed that, earlier), and it sounds like you're already on the path. Again, thanks so much for such a great device...

    Floppy Emu Disk Emulator Updates

It truly is an amazing device. I've used mine to boot a friends 128k Mac (that I replaced _all_ the RAM in!), and my Mac IIci. What versatility! BMOW, have you considered making your drive Apple IIe/c/gs-compatible? - Alex

    Floppy Emu Disk Emulator Updates

Just to note, I've tested the latest firmware, and it's absolutely perfect. Thanks so much! - Alex

    Floppy Emu Disk Emulator Updates

Indeed, my searching seems to indicate the same. I also found this program, which seems to work well, though I have only tested it a bit: http://sunsky3s.s41.xrea.com/dmgconverter/index.html It seems to create valid raw images, given a variety of formats, fairly easily. I also ran across an...

    Floppy Emu Disk Emulator Updates

I will look in to finding the Disk Copy 6.x format documentation. As to directly running Disk Copy, that's a no go, as Mini vMac doesn't really emulate a floppy drive. Actually, that seems to be a shortcoming of all of the Macintosh emulators. For most purposes, it doesn't really matter, but...

    Floppy Emu Disk Emulator Updates

Very close. Now, I just need to figure out how to get from Disk Copy 6.x to .raw. Thanks for the pointer!

    Floppy Emu Disk Emulator Updates

Yep, that's definitely useful, so long as you aren't trying to convert disk images from another format, to Disk Copy 4.2.

    Floppy Emu Disk Emulator Updates

All I can say is, what a fantastic product! On a side note, how does everyone make DiskCopy 4.2 images? I assume that you use a real Mac with a real superdrive? I've been trying, with little success, to find an alternative. This would be especially handy since Apple has many Disk Copy 6.x...

    Floppy Emu Disk Emulator Updates

And to reply to myself, again (I can't edit posts more than a couple minutes old, for some reason), I resoldered the CPLD, and now the board works perfectly! Thanks again! I'm really looking forward to the code release that supports folders. - Alex

    Floppy Emu Disk Emulator Updates

And now I can't replicate the PH2/3 GND short. Odd. All of the other signals check out OK, though. - Alex

    Floppy Emu Disk Emulator Updates

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm still checking everything, but I found that PH2 and PH3 are shorted to GND. Is that right? It appears that the pins on the board are connected, for those, on the pads near the edge of the board, in Eagle. Thanks! - Alex

    Floppy Emu Disk Emulator Updates

I finally finished building my board (yay!), and it seems to work. I managed to load the CPLD firmware, successfully, and the board recognizes valid (it took me a while to figure out which disk images are supported) images just fine. However, when plugged in to my test machine (a Mac IIci)...

    Floppy Emu Disk Emulator Updates

My problem turned out to be very simple/stupid: I did not solder the voltage regulator! With that in place, everything works file, so far. I've found a great way to hand solder those surface mount ICs. If you drag-solder the chips to the board, and then use a power vacuum solder remover (I...

    Floppy Emu Disk Emulator Updates

Well, I checked for shorts with my multimeter, in continuity mode, and didn't find anything. I also re-soldered all of the joints that were the least bit questionable, and tested the screen, itself, using an Arduino. I'll include the pictures of the ATmega and the '244, here. I also...

    Floppy Emu Disk Emulator Updates

Fantastic work, bigmessowires! This is such a wonderful tool to make OS installation and testing easy, on older Macs. I've started the assembly, and got everything done, all the way through the programming of the AVR. However, after adding the 74LVC244, 10k resistor, and 0.1uF cap, I can't...

Floppy Emu update: Mac 128K/512K support

Yeah, color me really excited about this project. I'll be interested, when they are available, for sure. - Alex

    Sick Mac IIci Board

Thanks for the suggestions, but I have a bunch of ADB keyboards, so unless it's the port on the IIci (possible), I don't think that it is that. And, yes, I've replaced the PROM battery. In the meantime, I seem to have acquired an Apple TechStep diagnostic unit. If I can hunt down the CPU...

    Sick Mac IIci Board

Thanks, zuiko21! Yes, I did change every capacitor on the board. I didn't change any resistors, though. The thing that makes me think thermal issue is that, after the 30-minute shutdown, if I try to start the IIci back up, again, it will power on, but then it immediately powers off. If I...

    Sick Mac IIci Board

I should have mentioned that I cleaned the crud off of the board, when I replaced the caps. Continuity seems to be OK, but I don't, in all cases, know where to verify it from. I did personally scrutinize the quality of the solder joints, and had someone else double-check me. I was planning to...
