just finished up some testing with the latest firmware using daynaport emulation:
FTP maxes out around 93KB/s now, so that's a couple KB/s faster then last firmware
appleshare no longer hangs the system
doing a transfer from my main SE/30 with PDs network card over to my scuznet se/30 test rig...
after running the appleshare transfer I left the room and came back a bit later and it seems to have frozen my se/30 are 5mb of transfer
interestingly though if I connect to an appleshare on my Main SE/30 then my testing se/30 (hopefully that makes sense) with the daynaport it starts off pretty...
I can confirm this change has fixed my ftp freezing the system, in fact with since my last round of testing I have seen a slight increase in ftp transfer speeds, I now get around 91KB/s, and it also ramps up much faster too.
as for appleshare, transferring my OS X server 1.4.11 I still get very...
hi guys, I haven't had much free time the last week to get on the forums here and check out the current status of the scuznet, I should have some free time this weekend though to do some testing though.
as for the IDC50 pin version of the hardware, I did make some a little while ago with the...
well my main server is running macOS Big Sur, and ive tried a few ftp server over the course of testing the scuznet but for at the last few months ive been using a commercial program called Rumpus, its not free but its obtainable.
until I installed rumpus I was getting poor ftp transfer results...
I can report that has fixed up my sluggish hdd issue, mode=forcefast now runs well. I haven't done any other testing yet. I may get time tonight to test out some things but if not I'll have time tomorrow to check things out. I did do a quick AppleTalk transfer test with the Dayna emulation and I...
so ive tried out the new firmware with the nuvo emulation enabled but I still get the freeze in fetch with a movable mouse pointer and reseting the Mac required a power cycle on the scuznet fo hit to see the hdd to boot from.
also the hard drive emulation is very sluggish, I have a 2gb hdd.img...
thanks for the kind words,
I'll test out the new firmware, just to clarify though, "mode=normal" replaces 'mode=fast' and checks if the hdd image file is contiguous and if so switched to raw access? im assuming that 'mode=fast' and 'mode=forcefast' are no longer valid arguments in scuznet.ini?
no worries, let me know if you find anything and/or have any other tests you think are worth doing. i make a lot of pcb's and deal with surface mount soldering almost daily as well as a lot of restoration/repair work so i've been very stumped as to the cause and really just want to figure out...
I had one working with ftp originally but after further testing I discovered the issues I now have. at the time I was only transferring files around 1-4mb in size. only tried on a couple se/30's ill have to read back over my notes and forum posts to see if I tried it with the iici logic board I...
I second this, do make sure is a 25-25pin straight though cable, in the pc world 25pin cables are either wired to printer port use or they are old school 25pin serial port cables so I highly doubt either would work thb
this is smiler to the issues ive had, firstly do double check you solder connections and make sure all the flux is gone. as for the sdcard I formatted mine as MBR Fat32 in my modern computer then I reformatted it with scsi director 4 fwiw. what brand sd card are you using, might be worth trying...
so tried a isolated network between the se/30 and a Mac mini using a old router and I was actually able to connect and mount the afp share most of the time but unfortunately it would still hang the system so for now ive put the scuznet on the back burner as I'm still waiting on my order...
check the ground plane is connected, the lc575 (and likely others) use a split ground plane for the audio and the logic on the board, I imagine they did that to minimise noise on the audio circuitry but you can just connect the audio ground to the main ground of the logic board. a quick test...
are we talking a hardware about or software problem here? l have 7.5.5 installed with open transport 1.3...
i'll try that out today and report back. fwiw i think those symptoms only occur when ethernet is preselected in the AppleTalk control panel. i'll have to double check but i dont recall...
it doesn't crash immediately, but if its connected before I boot the Mac it freezes at the MacOS screen before it starts loading extensions with about 1cm of the loading bar done
if I boot up the Mac right to the desktop and then plugin the ethernet cable then it doesn't freeze until maybe...
i haven't done this on an apple lcd but to replace the backlights is going to be the same process as any other lcd from the era, you'll actually have to seperate the lcd panel itself, usually the metal frame hold the layers of defusers, display, glass etc and the cfl will be in there. this is a...
