Hi guys,
I get the same wobble on my se/30 and its been getting worse over the last year. I’ve brought a new board/psu which i was planning to recap before putting it in to stop the wobble. I’d be pretty gutted to do all that and still have the wobble :/ should i change the transistors and...
Thanks Alpine, yes did that and nothing came off thankfully. So how do you tell whats a cold joint or not or should i just reflow every joint just encase? Like i said as a novice I’m not really sure what I’m look for but happy to try it.
cheers
Thanks Unity. I thought it may have been a coating. Not so great that you can see some issues :/ I’ve never soldered before so this will be my first time when i re-cap. Replacing caps I’m fine with but Cold joints? Not sure what I’m looking for, which ones could you see?
thanks

Hi Guys,
i brought a used a/b analogue board/sony psu combo as a temporary replacement for my se/30’s whilst i recap and clear up my original items. The replacement board is from an SE which I believe is identical? Basically I’ve been experiencing some minor shimmers/flickering especially when...
Thanks Trueno. I have just brought a replacement analogue board so it’s a good time to look at this and align the screen properly once ive re-capped it of course :)
It depends how hands on you are and if you have other older computers to act as a bridge machine. I brought an se/30 a few years back without really thinking about it, nostalgic purchase as i used macs at college and it was cheap.
firstly without some basic technical or computer experience you...
I’d give the board a full clean up with q-tips and cleaner just to make sure theres no residue left.
Potato is correct about the SEs and older macs didn't suffer the capacitor issues like the SE/30 onwards but the analogue board and psu do have those unreliable caps
Ah i used photoshop 4 on my se/30 and converted the image size as close to 512 x 384 dpi (dots per square inch) to match my screen size and saved in pict format as that suits system 7 best.
On a 1-bit macintosh pictures and backgrounds can be intriguing so you need to be clever with yor pictures, simple b&w pics work best. What you trying to fo Nathanplus?
