Is this true for all of the duos or just 280? Specifically wondering about 2300c and 230.
I do have a photo of the board if you would like it. (280c and 280 use the same logic board)
I know this is a weird request, but can anyone with a IIc take measurements for me on the width and height of all the silkscreened text on the computer itself? I am no longer in the country where my IIc is as I painted it over my Christmas break from university and have since returned to...
Anyone have information on the runtime of these packs? I want another pack for my 170 and this is higher capacity (and higher quality) than my custom pack I built. Didn’t realize someone sold these pre made.
My friend tried the back power button and it still had green light no power. Caps have some dull pads so replacements are needed for those. Hopefully Caps is all it needs. It also had some battery corrosion around the main battery connector but that cleaned up good on the board minus the...
Glad to know that its fixable! I was not sure if it was vinegar syndrome or not. It will surely be a pain but hopefully I can successfully replace the polarizer.
I'm about to buy a 280c from a friend, and the display looks a little strange. Before I buy this computer I would like to know if this is a problem and if so, if its fixable.
Any ideas on what it may be?
After several months and a second display and second dead inverter I finally fixed it. Both inverters had a blown F1 fuse. After bridging the fuse (I am ordering a replacement), the inverter is working perfectly again. Maybe that is your issue as well.
Maybe you can post a thread on trading asking for anyone that has a spare laptop to give/sell you the part. If I had access to my 145B I would be happy to design a part, but I dont go home until December unfortunately.
Oh, so the Ni-MH packs are rebuildable while the lithiums are not? That would make life easier since I can easily rebuild a pack that doesnt brick itself.
Well, there goes my plan. Maybe I can find a working pack to rebuild with some nice high capacity cells then. I will have to keep a lookout for any that come up.
I was able to recell my g4 titanium easily. Did it myself and it didnt brick. Was an aftermarket pack, which is probably the only reason it worked. Maybe i can find an aftermarket pack for the 3400 to see if that would do anything. Honestly if I can find some cells that fit and have similar...
Well, damn. I was really hoping to have my 3400 pack rebuilt at some point since its probably dead. Hopefully they can recell my 2400 since that still seems to hold a charge.
Unfortunately I cant find any services like that anywhere near me (closest is in Ontario and I'm in Alberta), otherwise...
I managed to kill the cpu board of a 140 by taking it apart 😕. No idea what I did that caused it though. The interconnects really suck in these computers, so far I haven’t managed to kill any of the PowerBooks I have take apart other than that (new cpu board fixed it). It does sound like...
It may be possible if you can keep the BMS alive. It would be more difficult than 18650s since with 18650s, you can just copy the original layout while powering the BMS. With Li-Po packs, you would have to first get cells that fit, then wire them correctly (which would be more challenging), and...
Mine boots right up when I plug the battery in so it seems to be fine without the clock battery for that. Very unusual since my duos which aren’t much older need that jump start.
It’s a 3 cell. As long as you can find cells that fit inside the little space, you should be able to rebuild/replace the pack. The original pack is about 43mm x 27mm x 8mm
