You're saying you plugged in... a wet motherboard??
Wow. I'm not saying you're dumb or anything, but it's unfortunate that you weren't taught as a child that such things were dangerous...
Something my father always used to tell us from a very young age about the nature of electricity was this...
The black light thing seems like an accidental discovery though. I imagine it's pretty difficult to "accidentally discover" that you can fix some motherboards by dunking them in soapy water...
Wow. That's nuts. What kind of card was it? (I'm not sure what GPIB stands for)
Something like that happened to me once, except it was a rare book I came across in a library sale.. a 1932 first english edition Mein Kampf. (No, I'm not a nazi) But I knew it was worth money.
I paid $10 for it...

This has happened to me once or twice, although I don't remember on which machine and I absolutely cannot explain it.
Something about witnessing such a thing made me feel dirty inside, as if I had received a BSOD.

No, it was just dark because of the angle the pic was taken at. I'm talking about the yellow (orange maybe? I'm colorblind) line running vertically down the screen. It showed up randomly a few weeks ago and hasn't gone away since.
Thanks for letting me know about the sharing thing... I'll have...
I'm having an issue with the screen on my 520c, although I think it uses a different screen than the 540c.
Here is a pic.~

I have a spare screen if it comes down to having to replace it, but I am really not looking forward to...
I don't want to actually install it permanently.
I'll do what I did last time and remove the bottom half of the iMac, flip the unit upside-down, and just temporarily set the CD drive on top of it while it installs the OS. Once it is installed I'll put it all back together without the CD drive...
