Just a tip: You totally can re-partition a drive while keeping the data... not sure why anyone said otherwise. Boot Linux up on a livecd with the hfsprogs package and GParted. Piece of cake. At worst you have sticky partition header positioning, which can be fixed by imaging.
The SE/30 display only has one color, white. The display pixels have two states: illuminated and not illuminated, which means it is a "real" monochrome screen.
Be careful with that cap, improperly discharging the CRT could cause some damage (or so I've heard). I wouldn't say discharging the CRT is required though, since you're putting it right back in after you're done.
I don't have an answer, but rather a question...
I could have sworn the SE was the least popular Compact Mac, but from what I can tell it seems to be the most popular? Was I wrong? If so, how the heck did I think that in the first place?
Considering I do not use any Mac OS past 9, and don't own an iPhone, I can't use MacTracker. I'm sure this is the case for others as well.
Instead, I use http://www.everymac.com/ which is a far more accessible source of information.
Well alrighty then.
Anybody know of standalone PATA RAID hardware that supports PIO? I know there's internal expansion cards out there, but what about something that operates by itself in a box (save for plugging into an ATA socket for data)?
I think CF is a whole other can of worms, but it's related to a bigger problem with the onboard ATA controller. It's very likely the only way to get 2 PATA drives on the Q630 ATA bus is with separate RAID controller hardware, which would trick the 630's ATA controller into seeing only one drive...
The Quadra/Performa 630 uses PATA... With a modified cable, is it capable of supporting two drives? (Master & Slave) From what I've seen, probably not, but...
Has anyone actually tried this?
I only had 2 servers. Not exactly "full", so I'm guessing it was just trying to mount them. Also, I had tried deleting the prep file previously, which didn't do anything.
I always knew Appleshare made the startup process a little longer, but how long is "normal"? On a semi-fresh install of OS 9.2.2 on a 1.6Ghz MDD, it's freakishly long (over 2 minutes)... Any reason?
I heard somewhere it could be caused by Appleshare looking to mount non-existent shares (that...
