    A/UX distinctives...

I thought that since some early Sun machines (thinking sparcstation 5 and 10 era) had the same serial controller as macs, a z80 or something, Sun put localtalk support in early versions of solaris.

G4 with PowerLogix 1.7 GHz CPU Upgrade

And had you previewed, you wouldn't have this problem. Nice score either way.

    Duo/PowerBook Collector's Dream . . .

There's also tinypic (http://tinypic.com/) not slow at all, and does the exact same thing imageshack does. Only lots faster. Loooots faster.

    Which expansion card is this?

Open the case and pull it out. I'm sure it has some sort of code that you can use to identify it with, or at least chips you can look up.

    Goodwill store finds

Yeah, I've found goodwills here in NC are usually pretty decent, I've picked up a few nice mac monitors as well as a couple of SCSI peripherals. It's dissapointing though, the one in the town where I live (washington) completely rejects any tech stuff ever - before you can get in the door they...

    Concerning the editing post policy

Well, by that logic bump it to 3 hours, or 4, or 12, or a whole day, or just get rid of it altogether. Regardless of what the limit is, there are always going to people on the wrong side of it.

    Free eMac

Looks like a great spare kinda mac to have around, esp since it can do OS X and 9, a good gateway machine.

    my collection of vintage Mac

That's doubtful if it worked earlier.

    Concerning the editing post policy

What's wrong with amending a for sale thread with a new post at the bottom? That way everything is in very obvious chronological order. As for changing ideas or fixing typos or whatever you guys could do what I do - type it into a text editor, read over it to make sure it says what you want and...

    Favorite mice

I love those cheapo microsoft USB optical mice, I've had several over the years and have a black one now. Two buttons and a scrollwheel as a third, comfortable and works great. On laptops I prefer the trackpoint but can make do with trackpads. I have a logitech trackball that I like, one that...

    Interesting object...

Wow, that thing is way cool. Seems to have cost a pretty penny for the 060 version back in the day, too. Do you have any intentions of cracking it open and getting lots of board/guts pictures? They'd be much appreciated! :D

    RAM, RAM, and RAM

If the SO-DIMMs are DDR(1) and they work, you can sell them for around $60 a stick. That said, I'd keep them handy, as DDR1 is now just about as easy to get your hands on as PC133 when you're looking for a decent price.

    Welcome back!

In my opinion, yes. You can't necessarily make something like this [i.e. a complex webforum] compatible with everyone and everything that tries to access it, to expect so is just silly. As per classic macs requiring to be able to access it, well, in the grand scheme of things it makes sense what...

    Welcome back!

Geeez guys, we've had phpbb3 for what, a day and a half so far? Give him a break already..

    Welcome back!

I quit like it myself, and don't get what the big deal is. You visit a forum for the content, not to see the framing of the forum or the location of the user data and avatars. Give up the complaining and you'll get used to it eventually, everything changes, that's life, even the life of a forum...

    Server!

At the community college in my net226 class we have set up a dell poweredge 5u box for various webservering, and it has 4x PIII 700s, and is surprisingly quiet. The thing is it's packed with 120mm fans that move slow but pump massive amounts of air.

    Server!

And, for those interested, I took a video of it!

    Server!

Probably not. That said, it has been suggested to me several times, and I'm aware that apparently everything but sata is fully supported, so it is fairly tempting.

    Server!

I ordered this about a week and a half ago, and it arrived today. It cost $126 shipped, and arrived in astonishingly pristine condition. Like most 1u dual-proc servers, it has two squirrel cage fans and moves incredibly massive amounts of air, each one spins at between 7 and 9,000 RPM. I've so...

    Sony Trinitron Multiscan 420GS

Interesting to know they support mac/sun only modes. Out of curiosity, do you know what you paid for one in the 90s?
