    8.1 on a LCIII

That is what I meant: a driver should allow the system to handle something, like a HFS+ volume. A few years ago some "driverguru" posted interesting notes on this board. A lot things should be possible for one how knows about putting bits in the appropriate order -

Powerbook 1400c - Solid State Storage!

Just because it is available and cheap. Even most recent MacBooks sport a SDHC compatible slot. But I agree with you, that CF is the more convenient storage medium to interface an IDE host adaptor. UDMA compatible CF cards seem not to become cheap, however.

    8.1 on a LCIII

One of the most interesting uses of booting pre-040 Macs into 8.1 would be access to HFS+ volumes. Are there other options, like loading a HFS+ driver using System 7.1?

    trinityworks: mighty mouse driver

Is there a speaker (reader) of Japanese language? The website trinityworks might provide several driver software solutions to fully use an Apple mighty mouse on several different host operation systems like Windows XP. Unfortunately I do not understand the Japanese text. Could a comrade with...

Powerbook 1400c - Solid State Storage!

You might consider to read (like you probably did) and improve the notes regarding the use of flash memory in the 68kMLA Wiki. There are already some notes about the PB1400 as a test system in several configurations. Information about the proper use of mini IDE to SDHC adaptors would be most...

    2.5" SCSI SSD Project

I appreciate the project as well, techknight, thank you a lot in putting that much effort into the solution. The artmix thing seems not to be available anymore and other much more expensive solutions are out of stock and not likely to go into production again. So what you are doing is exactly...

    G4 tiBook Motherboard

I also have a VGA TiBook which took a few days off. During the last weeks the machine made some ugly noise through the speakers on startup and did not boot. Reseating the RAM seemed to fix it for a while, but in the end it did not work any more. The RAM itself is known good, as I double...

    2.5" SCSI SSD Project

Pardon, I probably missed something in this thread. Could you please drop a line about the goal of the project or a link to the previous thread? Is it about designing a SCSI SSD from scratch or just about interfacing an existing storage device? Did someone recently ask for availability of CF...

LC 580 on the internet. Possible with this modem?

Just for clarification: usual external modems do not prefer a specific type of computer or operation system. As long as a modem is properly connected (using the appropriate cables plugged into the appropriate connectors), all you need is some software using a command set compatible to the...

    Powermac 7200/90/sonnet/ati/os8

A while ago I set up the same configuration of hardware with an additional Fast Easternet card. As of the Sonnet driver software does not work with any of the Mac OS 9 versions, the machine got a fresh install of 8.6, upgraded manually with any extension and control panel from 9.x that would...

LC 580 on the internet. Possible with this modem?

Beware, never call the port with the SCSI icon "serial port". The plugs might be compatible, but the electrical connection is quite different. That is what comrade CJ_Miller explained. Please go and find (or make) a modem cable that sports a mini 8 pin connector on the Mac's end (like the Mac...

    Introducing pomme-s.ch, served by a PB 100

Excellent source! Thank you for the link. Consider to test the software "powerorg..." as well. Throw it into the extensions folder, restart and look what happens if some disk or power supply is plugged in. Seems to be taken from the movie "Harry meets Sally" ;-)

    Best all-round Apple CRT monitor?

I also used several 17" Apple monitors. As long as they served well, the picture was excellent, but two 1710 models died from electronics failure and the older and even taller Apple 17" Trinitron died from ongoing disintegration of the plastics. A few years ago I opted for a pair of EIZO L365...

Any one heard of a SCSI graph?

Most likely it is not worth a further try without appropriate driver software. Graphics output through the SCSI is nothing the system will do of its own volition. Better dig up the installer disk.

PowerBook SCSI Video Solutions and other Expansion Goodies

I snatched a RAM slot video adapter for the PB170. Now I am extremely tempted to throw it into a PB180, to look if it would provide a triple screen mode running "Hellcats" }:) The PB170 and PB180 use RAM modules of the same form factor and the PB180 runs well using PB170 RAM modules...
