The SCSI-1 bus on the SE/30 is a crushing bottleneck. Last few weeks I have been trying to think of a way to increase its bandwidth. I had RAID in mind. That bus will take 6 or 7 (I thought SCSI was limited to 6, but I saw something that claimed the SE/30 SCSI bus maxed at 7) storage devices...
This is an awesome idea. Pleased to hear it is possible. I always wanted to run an SE/30 logic board headless inside an old Apple external scsi drive case. This would need a tiny PSU, and I'm not sure an ethernet PDS could fit. Unfortunately, those Apple external scsi drives have gotten rare...
I always liked green monochrome monitors. Maybe it isn't the best fit for running System 6 or 7, which looks better in B&W than in green mono, but I like it for running NetBSD without a GUI. I never did figure out how to permanently invert the colors to green on black rather than black on green...
