I've been following this thread along with others on the IIsi PSU. I have four IIsi PSUs that I've been working on over the last month. Three are Sony models and one is a MagneTek. I have recapped them all (along with the daughter boards) and have one Sony working and the MagneTek working...
I had a friend drop off a color classic board with some really bad cap leakage. I am trying to save the board so I took the caps off and everything looks okay except down at c9 and c10. I can put solder mask over the exposed traces at c9 and the pad that was gone at c10 is the negative side...
I have an SE/30 that I'm working on and have this same issue (death chimes), but with a vertical SimaSimac pattern on the screen.
Here is what I have done so far:
Recapped board, run through ultrasonic cleaner, baked, reseated all the chips.
Used a known set of four working RAM and ROM from...
Nice,
Thank you very much. Didn’t realize that I accidentally removed it 4 months ago when I was on a cap removing day!
Would this be an acceptable part?

Hello all,
I accidentally removed the L221 inductor from a Mac IIsi PSU when I was removing caps and don’t know what value it was.
If anyone can point me in the correct direction, it would be much appreciated.
I have circled it on the photo for reference.
Update: I checked the continuity of all three inductors and they are good, so I don't know where to go from here. Traces look good as well, I have posted some pictures from yesterday. If there is another area I should focus on trouble shooting, I'm open to ideas.
Update: removed all three and the traces look good on the board. The inductor from L3 (right in between all four caps) has the plastic molding broken off underneath, which holds the pins steady on the bottom. This may have been from my removing, but it’ll need to be replaced. I have included...
I’m working on one of these and after the recap, ultrasonic wash, bake and dry; I now get a backlit screen and nothing else. I would be gracious if you could point me in the correct direction to fix the voltage. I have included some pics of the area I believe you are talking about, but do not...
Hello,
I finished a couple of recaps of SE 30 boards. One is working and the other is showing me the posted picture on screen with a normal start up chime.
The problem board has been run through the ultrasonic cleaner. I have swapped out the RAM with known working RAM from another board and...
Thanks, I was unfamiliar with the RTC chip, I’ll check it when I return home next week.
The little reading that I’ve done about the RTC is that is was a custom part for Apple and there aren’t any replacement parts available, unless a person can pull one off another board. Does that...
I just ran into something that I haven’t seen yet, any help would be appreciated.
Mac SE FDHD, logic board had removable battery type. Not the soldered battery. Running 6.0.8 with a Blue SCSI hard drive.
I replaced the battery, no corrosion visible. Cleaned machine and rebooted. Everything...
I have a Mac Classic that I'm working on. I've recapped the logic board, cleaned it up (with ipa) and placed it back in the machine. I now get the "ding", which was missing previously, upon boot up. However, prior to the recap I was looking at a checkerboard pattern screen; now I'm looking at...
