When you try the Flasher @jeremywork linked in post#5, if it flashes the card, but the card still doesn't work, keep the ROM on the card that it flashes and boot into Open Firmware with either another graphics card or via serial or telnet and get the .properties for the card. We want to see if...
Yes I learned a lot from Arti Itra, Joe van Tunen, and Daniel Jefferys as well as a few others.
Though my hacks and trail and error I have learned to almost be an Open Firmware master, but I still have a lot to learn in the 4th before they will let me sit on the Jedi council.(y)
May the 4th be...
So I checked the Voodoo 4/5 Flasher included in these tools, thanks @jeremywork, and it only checks the Vendor and Device ID's in the IODispaly Name Registry.
3Dfx Voodoo Drivers (1,2,3,4,5) + Utilities, Flash Roms - Macintosh Repository
Oddly, as with most Mac OS 9 style PCI...
So today we are going to investigate to see if we can flash a PC Voodoo4 or Voodoo 5 to a Macintosh card suitable for PowerPC PCI systems.
I don't own a Voodoo4/5 card and the retro computing realm for the PC has made them prohibitively expensive for me, but if you have such a card and you...
Well that is problematic, I was hoping the ID check was in the FCODE part of the ROM, thus it would be human readable in 4th once we detok the ROM.
I wonder if the check also exists in the OS 9 style 'ndrv'.
I'll do some tests when I get a new PC 3112 that doesn't have one of the supported...
So I have a PowerMac 9600 that has a ROM slot, presumably if Apple ever wanted to update the 4MB Boot ROM for these machines and the other Old World Mac's that had the ROM Slot they just needed a ROM Upgrade SIMM.
It looks like the Beige G3 ROM SIMM is Pin compatible, so maybe someone that has...
Would you go into some detail about where in the ROM you found the EEPROM ID's in the Whitelist?
Likely we can detok the FCODE and remove these checks.
Also, what @JoeVT and I found with the UltraTec ATA cards and FCODE ROM's is they use FCODE compression, but the Firmtech firmware for the...
Yes, but ether you need to patch Open Firmware to present all the CPU's in the Device-Tree or you need a Kernel Extension to enable the rest of the CPU's not enumerate in the Device-Tree.
Ryan Rempel( XpostFacto ) did some work trying to get L2Cache Slot upgrades to work with OS X, but I don't...
Never had one of the L2 CPU upgrades, but that's such a cool feat of engineering, nice to run across someone that knows something about them.
I just picked up a PM7100/80AV, and I didn't know but there are NUBUS G3/G4's for these things, if I can find one.
What I've always wondered is how the...
Just received shipment of a brand new old stock Sonnet G4 Crescendo PCI upgrade card for my PowerMac 9600, still in the factory shrink wrap.
It's the later revision as it has the 50Mhz fixed frequency oscillator to set the bus speed to 50Mhz. Sonnet used a 45Mhz oscillator for compatibility...
Check all your capacitors for any signs of failure.
There use to be a source of Mach V CPU overclocking settings:

What Mac do you have, what CPU Upgrade do you have, and what Mac OS are you running?
Generally speaking all the Sonnet software does is enable the L2/L3 Cache, if other software works to enable it you don't need to use the software from Sonnet, it won't bring anything special.
