Got Tiger Server to boot on a Beige G3.

It does not, same deal, just bounce and die.

Got Tiger Server to boot on a Beige G3.

I reboot to TS and even repaired the disk permissions, but no dice XPF will not launch and I get no error report or logs to help figure why. No great loss, I'd just like to see how fast the system is when booted from the SAS card. Anyone know if XPF 4 works in Leopard?

Got Tiger Server to boot on a Beige G3.

That's not an option for the LSI SAS cards, not Mac OS 9 drivers( NDRV ). Only Tiger Server and Leopard have drivers for the two LSI SAS cards I have. OF can use them just fine, but the Beige lacks support for reading disk partitions from OF. I think I tried launching XPF right after CCC was...

Got Tiger Server to boot on a Beige G3.

Yes, deleting it and clearing the .kext and kernel caches got TS up with the GF6200 and the ATI built-in not disabled( shows as no driver loaded ).

Got Tiger Server to boot on a Beige G3.

I tried copying the drivers over once before, not sure if I tried from Leopard or Tiger Server but they would not link/load. I think the LSI drivers require some newer things than can be found in Tiger. Oddly Xpostfacto 4 will not launch in Tiger Server, just bounces in the dock once, then...

Got Tiger Server to boot on a Beige G3.

Here are some xls of benchmarks of the SAS, vs 80Gig PATA on the ATA33 bus and a FW400 drive.

Got Tiger Server to boot on a Beige G3.

I got Tiger Server fully booted and did some testing with an LSI SAS card on a SATA SSD, things look pretty good speed wise, seems much quicker than the SiL3112 with the same drives in this machine. I'll have to download Carbon Copy Cloner and try and boot from the LSI card.......

Got Tiger Server to boot on a Beige G3.

I thought I'd give this a try, I really want to get my SAS cards woking on the Beige G4( G3 ), but only Tiger Server and Leopard have drivers for the LSI SAS cards I have. Had not tried the SAS cards yet, I was able to boot Tiger Server in Safe Mode, but I had to install a patched GeForce 6600...

g4 mdd fw800 chimes with no video

Try and remove the R9000 when testing the Rage128 for video. If the Radeon is partially coming up it maybe trying to divert video to that card. Removing the Radeon should be enough to get you boot video from the PCI Rage card. Otherwise you may have another issue.

Anyone tried the NanoTech Sata PCI card?

It's the running NetBSD that maybe untested. I bought one of these cards on eBay pre-flashed and it had a mod to the voltage IC that was supposed to make it compatible with the PowerMac G4 Quicksilver. The mod made the card unstable and unusable in any computer. I ended up replacing the...

Interesting find on PCI Bus booting NWM's

I'm not sure why ,\\:tbxi does not work, that's like telling OF to search the disk recursively for a :tbxi resource or does the :tbxi need to be blessed( *g:tbxi )? Maybe this only works for the correct Chipset USB PCI cards like the Sonnet Tango uses, I'll have to check the other PCI USB cards...

    Wings card. Performance enhancement?

Bring out your dead! So to revive this, what software does anyone use to capture movies on the Wings card? I have a G4 433Mhz Beige with the Wings card and 768MB of ram, but with BTV Pro it only seems to grab composite video, when I try and encode with one of the other Quicktime setting like...

Interesting find on PCI Bus booting NWM's

People may already have found this and I just did not know about it, but you can boot from a USB device connected to a PCI card in New World Mac's. I haven't tested all my NWM's yet, but I assume it is going to work in others too. On the MDD 867MHz Dual CPU 133Mhz Bus Model I booted Mac OS 9...

    QuickTopix

It was pricey software at the time, likely going to be hard to track down, but some user may have an old copy lying about. Sadly US copyright does not actually allow for 'abandonware', it's not even really a grey area.

MPEG2 encoding on Mac OS 9?

it's the OS 9 only MediaPress PCI card( 23770 ). Just ran a quick test on the card, 48 sec. to encode with the card from a DV file, while QT took 60 sec on the same file with the same 9 mbps video encoding. The DV file is one I transcoded from an example MPEG2 movie file that can be found on...

Garage Finds: Lisa / MacXL (+ Sony CRT)

If you want to call it going up in smoke ok! Better to recap first, then power it on! Live and learn, I just hope it didn't take anything else inside the Lisa out with it when it went. No great loss to someone sitting on it for 30 years and never turning it on, but we are talking a collectors...

DFS mode on the iBook 7447a.

The iBooks that came with the 7447A/B CPU default to booing in DFS-low mode, it's not an issue for 'supported' versions Mac OS X or Linux as they have functioning Power Management, also I assume NetBSD, but I've never tried it. However if you revert to running Mac OS 9 on the iBooks you will...

TAM hack: Apple External Video Connector

Seems most of the used PC compatibility cards have lost the internal audio/video assembly( cable/rinser ) Does anyone know the Apple part number for it? Did the 12" PC compatibility Cards have the socket for the internal cable as well?

TAM hack: Apple External Video Connector

So the 7200 PC card didn't have that odd ball Y-video cable, it used the GMIO?
