    USB-SCSI adapters

Yes. I have the Belkin USB-SCSI dongle. It's USB sloooow, but it gets the job done. A bigger problem will be finding compatible drivers for things like scanners.

    Source for SCSI Hard Drives

It could be. Those thingy's are expensive, but there are lots of them that were bundled, so if the seller doesn't know that that thingy at the back of his IDE drive is worth more than the drive itself, there's no sense informing him. Chances are, though, it's just a cheap 50pin to 68pin adaptor.

    Radius Rockets

Just don't install the rocket on a Nubus PPC....slows down the main mac. It's best on a Quadra 650/800. I haven't tried it on an 840AV, but it should work, and work well, with the 840AVs advanced Nubus system. The 40Mhz Rockets were different beasts, called the "Stage II," and couldn't be...

68060 accelerator cards for Mac: Would you be willing?

Hmmm.... I think I would be very interested in a 300Mhz 68K mac upgrade based on coldfire. So, who's going to make it? Ther would have to be the coldfire chip and some flash RAM for the emulator code, and it would have to socket into an 040 socket, much like the QuadDoubler accelrator.

Vintage Mac II NuBus video card identification

It is for a Mac, however, I don't think it will run on any system newer than 7.1, and most likely not on a PPC Mac. those slim vertical SIPs are old style videoRAM chips.

Can a 9 gb scsi hd go into a Dou Dock?

7.55 can support drive partitions up to 2TBs. It will be really strange though, since the minimum block size will be some obscenely large figure. SCSI has no practical limit on drive size, unlike IDE. However, you can't have a single file larger than 2GB on any System below 9.1, and can't use...

Does Farallon Etherwave Work Under System 6?

If the Etherwave Serial to PB adaptor (i.e. the Mac PB Etherwave adaptor) doesn't work in System 6, Dayna's Port EZ (also EZ-T, with 10-Base-T) does.

    Mac 68K Speedup tips here

Another tip which I forgot: Don't use Open Transport! It uses 2-4MB of RAM, and doesn't give any benefit for 68K Macs. I'm not a big fan to using a PPC upgrade card to speed up a 68K Mac, unless you've already got one, and want to play with it. IMHO, you'll end up with a slow PPC machine...

    Nubus PPC Mac Speed Tips

Good question. I was thinking that there may be some software that requires it, and that it would patch some 68K traps with PPC.

    7100/66

Thanks for the update. One of the things I've regretted not buying when I saw it at my favorite tech junk place was the cable of a defunct AppleVision 14 AV monitor. It would have been perfect for making a breakout box for any of the Nubus PPCs with Video In/Out, Audio In/Out, ADB, etc, etc.

    PPC Nubus sound system

The buggy ROM doesn't support the BlockMove16 command for transferring large blocks of data among NuBus Cards. The best implementation of that was in the 840AV.

    Just got an LC III

Find one, you can't make them. If you're lucky, you won't spend more than a dollar. Lots of brands to choose from (Apple, Dayna, Farallon-which also made an etherwave two port AAUI 10-B-T adaptor, etc.). Use a CR2 Lithium Photo battery, a big larger so you won't be able to put the black cap...

    SE/30 problems.

You've enabled 32-bit mode on your system software, but don't have the Mode32 7.5 init installed. Try zapping PRAM.

    Memory for Quadra 700

Dang, you should've. that would have upped the RAM on 4 Quadra 700s. The Q950 can get by with 64MB from 16x4Mb SIMMs. :)

    Mac 68K Speedup tips here

Post your Mac 68K Speedup tips here: 1) Load up on RAM. Max out. For some machines, mainly those using 30-pin simms finding 16MB 30-pin simms can be a challenge. 2) Get a cache card for your IIci. Note to those with IIsi's: Don't ever ever insert this cache card or any card for the IIci's...

    Nubus PPC Mac Speed Tips

Post speedtips for Nubus PPC Macs that you've discovered or tried out in this thread. Here are some of mine: 1) Make sure you've installed all of the recommended patches. Most important are GameSprockets, and OpenGL. These updates patch some 68K code with PPC code. 2) Run Jerry Kindall's...

    PPC Nubus sound system

AFAIK, one of the symptoms of the Nubus PPC ROM bug is that you can't use more than one bus master card in the system, unlike the 840AV and most Quadra Nubus Macs. Both the FWB SCSI card and the AMII are bus master cards. I'm not sure someone correct me on this.

    7100/66

The Radius 110 uses the same board as the Power Mac 8100/110 is a different case. It's sweet in terms of its uniqueness, and hoepfully omre robust power supply. The 9150, now that's sweet. It's faster variant 120Mhz is the fastest Nubus PPC, and it has six nubus slots in the case of a Quadra...

    7100/66

A 7100/80 is sweet. 40Mhz system bus and updated ROMS that address the Nubus bug. The 8100/80 was the only other Nubus PPC to have a 40Mhz Bus, but that had the buggy ROMs. The 9150 also had a 40Mhz bus in the 120Mhz version, but for some unknown reason, it isn't compatible with G3 PDS...

    OS on PPC

Nobody will ever use less than 640MB of RAM with Windows Vista. -Steve Blammer. There, that should be more suitably updated. I had a finely tuned and tweaked 8.1 install on a Power Mac 7100, but I messed up something (tweaking finder fixer to adjust Finder RAM allocation). It was running...
