Oh nice! We where looking for complete unmodified images of rhapsody (particularly DR2) when I was active on MG about 10 years ago!
Thanks for uploading them :)
Right, Have made the necessary alterations to the board and am having a look at getting a run made
Purple seems to be the most popular colour so we will be going with that
Do you guys want them with the bottom birdseed PNP assembled? Doing some rough pricing you would probably be looking at £60...
Interestingly I don't find the LC cases to be that brittle, of all my LC's I only have one where a tab has broken from normal use and one more where a internal tab was broken during shipping (But has been fine for years after glueing it back on) Wonder the if a different plastic mix was used on...
Sort of, this approach only works because this the accelerator is not really a PDS card, it is just hanging a faster CPU off the bus and the PDS connector happens to convinently have all the needed signals . If you wanted to do the same thing with two PDS cards you would need additional...
I have PNP data already made :) Didn't do it with the test batch as it adds quite a lot to the prove for a small run, will likley do it for the next run
There is a common issue with the screens failing on the early floppyemu's, the Zebra strip inside the screen starts loosing contact with the board causing issues. Try pressing on the top center of the display and pressing reset, if you get a display then you just need to get a replacement...
I had a quote back form PCBWay, $2300 for 5! yeah I think I'll pass on that. Will have to go for a normal colour.
So for those interested, what colour would you like? I will probably only do a single colour so I'll go with whichever is most popular
The boards have now been fully tested and work...
There seems to be quite a bit of interest so I will likely do at least one run, In terms of colours I really want to get some made with clear solder resist and a black base material (Like OSHPark's "After Dark" boards) But I'm currently waiting to hear back from PCBway on if that's possible...
It's a matter of finances, Getting a reverse engineering project like this to the point this is at is very time consuming and often expensive so being able to sell them afterwards justifys that time / cost. Additionally projects like this help support other ones that will likely never make any...
Board has been assembled and.....
Booted almost the first time, I made two small assembly errors (swapped two transistors and rotated a 26LS30 90 degrees form where it should be) and the crystal for the audio circuit was bad. No changes where made to the board to get it to boot :)
after a...
The boards are 4 layers, Signals all on the outer layers with power on the inner, I have the inners layers hidden in those pictures as otherwise you would just see a solid block
Thanks :)
Nope, personally I don't like soldering PLCC or QFP parts with paste, I find I end up spending more time fixing bridges than if I just hand solder them. Will be hand soldering the lot :)
I was looking at getting the birdseed on the bottom PNP'd but it ended up costing too much for a...
There is a full Schematic to go with it, I went with a traceing becuse if someone else has worked out the board routing why reinvent the wheel :)
Already on my radar, Will need some significant rerouting of the bottom of the board and proably require deleting the parity circuit (But how many...
