Needs older GALs as it is mostly 20V8's with a few 26CV12's and a few 22V10's, the 22V10's being the only ones currently in production (In some cases 20V8's can be converted to 22V10's but not always)
@cheesestraws No problem, I wasn't in a rush as I hostly wasn't expecting them to just work! :)
A small number should be available in a month or so once the last of the parts have made their way to me, I'll do a larger batch once I have had a chance to make some revisions tot he board design to...
Yes I did, they are a standard board to board connector of the same type (But not the same pin count) used by SCA SCSI. Can't remember the p/n offhand but they where available from digikey
For me it was mostly to get them off the floor and out the way :) All 3 of my Xserve's have served as my primary server in the past but even the Intel one got taken out of service nearly 10 years ago now. I do want to get the G4 back in to some kind of occasional service for reasons, only...
I did consider both but soldering the RAM leaves it non upgradeable which is not idea and cutting the slots apart seemed like a lot of effort, moving things around to make the slots fit was not actually that bad and only took a couple of evenings to do. Test boards have now been finalised and...
Do you have the rear rails? (These: https://www.thebookyard.com/product.php?cPath=92_233_244&products_id=6710)
In my experience they are almost always missing from Xserves and they are next to impossible to find. It took me a couple of years of searching to find them and even then I could not...
I can't set the single angled simm slots that the original rocket uses, I can get doubles but these have a different row spacing and obviously they won't work for the wired 3 + 5 slot layout radius used so I need to quite a bit of moving around in the RAM section to make it all fit. Ultimately I...
Of course! If you want to get your own PCB's made the gerbers, PNP data and schematics are on my github (https://github.com/max234252/Macintosh-IIci-Reloaded) or if you want a single board I still have some available in purple with ENIG surface finish and with the bottom side passives all populated
My experience with clear mask is it gets expensive quickly. I always wanted to get some LC boards made with clear mask but PCBWay quoted me about $400 for 5 iirc. (I also asked them for a quote for IIci boards with clear soldermask and a black core and they quoted me about $3K for 5!)
It looks...
As far as I am aware the original GAL and the Stage 1 ASIC rockets are the same though this is the first rocket I have actually had my hands on so I'm not 100% on that
Well I needed a breaak from the LC accelerator below :) (Which every time I think it is stable I find one LC it crashes in)
So far it's been going fairly quickly, the PCB is actually clear enough I have been manageing to trace the inner layers without any real issue :)
