Does the drive spindle spin freely by hand? It's possible that stiction is the issue. If it's stuck, try forcing it to turn. You've got nothing to lose because your stuck anyway.. literally.
If it's not that than you either don't have power to the motor connected properly or your motor is...
Okay, maybe I can look on eBay once in a while at lunch :)
Here's a post of my new NeXT Dimension Turbo Cube. http://vintagecomputer.ca/next-dimension-cube-turbo/
@archer174, turns out it is non-adb. I hooked up my mono MegaPixel monitor to the Turbo motherboard along with the color VGA...
@archer174 After spending the better part of the weekend scouring the NeXT forum, I didn't realize you were 'barcher174' over there. It's amazing what a 'b' will do :) You've been doing some fantastic work over there (ADB/non-ADB sound box for one). I do have an ADB soundbox in pieces that...
I'm sure you've got this covered but just in case, there is also a front cover switch that acts the same way as the back switch in killing the power supply. You have to "fake out" both switches.
You may have a "stuck brake". Take a look at this document: https://ia801808.us.archive.org/14/items/AppleLisa_RepairSunGuideDC/AppleLisa_RepairSunGuideDC.pdfand navigate to page 27 of 48.
Good luck.
When I was looking for my piggyback Z8, an early Widget drive was indicated as one of the sources to look. I don't recall the reference any more but none of mine had one. The piggyback Z8 is interchangeable with the right code on it.
Thanks archer174.
I currently have a NeXT Cube with mono screen and non-ADB sound box and peripherals plus a NeXTStation Mono slab, a NeXTStation Turbo Color with non-working color monitor and adb sound box and accessories. I think I'm covered but thanks for the post. I am sure it won't be...
I will absolutely let you guys know what's inside and if it works.
I tried to edit my top post but couldn't so here are a couple of key pics from the auction noted above (in case it disappears in time):
Here's the NeXT Cube Model N1000A
Here's the NeXT Dimension board peaking through (it...
Yes, definitely was because of the Dimension board but the condition was what caught my eye. My other N1000 Cube needs a paint job but that's on the To Do list.
FYI, the auction didn't start with a BIN. I just asked if they would consider one and what they wanted and they gladly set it up.
I...
Yes. A Macintosh XL is a Lisa 2/10 with a square pixel video mod. If it doesn't have the video mod, it is still could be called a Macintosh XL depending on when it was sold and what software came with it.
You can't use it on any other computer other than a Lisa 2/10. You could power it up but be prepared for the sound of jet engine taking off. Other than seeing if it spins up, there's no real reason to test it unless you have all of the other parts including the logic board/CPU/memory and I/O...
In another thread, I made a comment about an eBay auction I couldn't let go. Below is a picture of the memory that was part of the lot. I don't know what they are as I only know the older stuff so any help from you guys (and girls) could provide as to what it is and what it fits in is greatly...
I'm kicking myself because I had a shot at a 24" x 36" set. Normally these didn't come in a set but it was sent to someone at Corel Corporation. I stopped at $120 with another bidder.
This smaller set will actually be functional. I have a frame in my office where I'll cycle through them...
I did pretty well on an almost complete set of 11" x 17" Think Different posters on eBay. I wonder why no one else bid?

Edit: Never mind. I didn't notice it was Canadian shipping only. That'll do it.
Try checking the PRAM battery with instructions here: http://tim.id.au/laptops/apple/legacy/macintosh_tv.pdf There's also a reset button on the motherboard. try that too. On the odd occasion, it will act dead without resetting. Unfortunately, that document doesn't mention the reset button.
