I would say "no".
Technically, you'd have to pull out the glass scale to glue it in properly. I've done one of these myself but the glass was chipped and the drive is toast because it has to be glued exactly where it was. You can't deviate by even a little bit or the scale if off and your...
I'm actually on the fence about Retrobrite. We all know that plastics will yellow with age and this is a normal progression for various models of computers. In terms of the Retrobrite process there are two sides. On one hand, it looks nice if done well but on the other hand, it is available to...
The IIc Plus doesn't have a power brick. It has in internal power supply which is what drew me to it. About a week ago I bought my first Apple IIc for around $60 (plus shipping) with a power supply and I had to wait quite a while to find one at a decent price and it's "untested". Apple IIc's...
I was cruising eBay and saw an Apple IIc for a decent price ($26.50 Buy It Now). Turns out it was a IIc Plus and I didnt really know the difference but I just knew I didn't have one and I thought it was cool because it didn't need a power brick. Shipping wasn't too bad either. I grabbed it...
I'm actually not a gamer. I am more interested in the hardware and OSes and that's why I have the variety I have. However, I have a sweet Amiga 3000T that I want to fill up one day and go "gaming crazy" for a little while :) I just need to clean up a few projects first. I think the last...
I've acquired a number of items via Craigslist that are near impossible to find and a few were Mac related (Apple stuff is probably 20% of my collection). I acquired a fully boxed Mac 128k, my Mac 512k with early Hyperdrive and at least one Apple Lisa 2. On a similar note, I got my TAM...
Searchtempest.com and persistence :) It's actually found three on Craigslist in the last couple of years. The first was with a bunch of other software but the person already had a local buyer. The second had an asking price that was just too expensive. And of course, this one is the third.
I got it for $125 shipped. Because it came from down south, it worked out to about $100. I think it was worth it. I was just happy to find it on Craigslist.
I wasn't sure I'd ever find a copy f "through the Looking Glass" but I finally did. It's not in pristine condition because of some flaking of the pigment on the inside of the box but I wasn't going to let it go because these just don't come up for sale very often and definitely not at a decent...
I can try to take a video at some point for reference. I don't have anything that can measure amperage, unfortunately, or that would have been useful as well. I have an ancient camcorder. Hopefully it can record straight to computer but I doubt it.
I am going on the assumption that you would have previously fried something if there was a short in your Portable motherboard/display. Hopefully your bench power supply POP was a coincidence.
I am taking a guess at this but I could see the difference in amperage when the screen goes out...
Just saw the video. I'm not sure you're waiting long enough for it to actually start up. I haven't done any timing but it seem to take a good 30 seconds for things to come to life and I'm not sure if you hooked up the backlight but it doesn't come on when the screen goes black on start up...
Will do but I may not be able to get to it until Sunday at the latest. Are you sure CN1 lines up with the white flat ribbon connector on picture 2? From what can be seen in that picture, it doesn't look like it but it is hard to tell from the picture. Did you try to mark the pins in pic1 to...
Hi Ferrix97,
I'm not sure why I've never noticed this thread but I have an upgraded 5120 non-backlit to backlit upgrade and a working cable. Is there some way I can help? Maybe a picture or some continuity testing? I had some pictures up here once with the cable and card. I'll see if I can...
This prototype design was out in January 2015 but I just saw it for the first time. I want one!
Did they (whoever might make them) ever produce them or are there any plans?

Yes, the two feet had rubber feet on them. Without them, the front feet don't touch the ground well, usually, and it rocks front to back. It is, however, common for them to be missing.
Here's one of mine with a ruler so you can see how big they are. These are still available...
