While I do like to keep my stuff original and restored back to factory specs, my original intent was to restore it back to it's original form. this one is a time capsule and tells a story. As unity mentions, i can just put in an original board if I want to do that but I have decided to keep it...
I also have one or two other ceramic 68k Macs. The 512ke has one but I find the later ones had clear plastic brackets on the sides. The oldest ones do not.
No, those sockets were definitely put in afterwards. I have a 128k motherboard with, I think. one extra resistor pack added to convert...
Recently bought a Macintosh 128k with SCSI upgrade. I was wondering if I could possibly revert it back to stock but the on board memory was removed and 512k of memory was soldered in; quite expertly I may add. It also had an additional 512k daughter board along with the SCSI/upgraded ROM...
Nice acquisition. Please do update. Most of these clones don't have much information on the web. I have a few Apple II clones myself and I do find them interesting. They come in all shapes and sizes. Some that look close and some that don't. I would love to find a Unitron Mac clone.
The key caps come off but you need to be careful. make sure you raise up both side evenly. This is best done with a key cap puller but could be done with two paper clips.
Here is what the keyboard looks like taken apart: https://deskthority.net/wiki/Apple_Keyboard_II
Apparently, it will judging by the pics in this auction: http://www.ebay.com/itm/201767373902 Now that I have a IIc and IIC Plus, I'll have to finally try the screen.
Would someone do me a big favor and take a picture (top and bottom) of the Outbout 125 internal hard drive cable? I recapped the floppy drive and cannot get it to work so I think I have to go the hard drive route.
Thank you.
Just wanted to add a couple of manuals that came with mine.
Outbound 125 User Guide
Outbound 124 SCSI Adapter and Emulator User Guide
Hope this helps some of you guys without manuals.
Okay, got my Outbound 125. It has the internal floppy drive but the drive doesn't work. The drive has a belt internally so I'm not sure if it's slipping or if the motor is just messed up. Might be electrolytic caps in the floppy drive too. I was hoping the floppy was a generic PC floppy...
Thanks aplmak. This is helpful. I did buy the Outbound 125 and lucky enough, I also found a hard drive (that the seller said he believed worked on the 125 and a even an Outbound 125 mouse? The seller still has another hard drive for sale so it might be worth the gamble. I took a shot at it...
I managed to get a couple of deals lately.
The first I'm not sure is a deal but it's a Macintosh Portable M5126. It needs recapping and boots to a sad Mac. I need to figure out who provides recapping service. Is there anyone in Canada? The interesting part about this one is that it has the...
Thanks guys. I really appreciate the replies. I guess what I'm asking now is that since the IDE hard drive interface and floppy disk interfaces are different, is there a provision for one or the other in terms of available interfaces? This kinda needs pics for the internals to see if there is...
Thanks bibilit.
The first post depict a model with no internal floppy drive so I am thinking that's where the hard drive goes? The second link shows pics of the later notebook model so that doesn't help. Hopefully someone here opened one up and can chime in.
I am looking an acquiring an Outbound 125 but it has an internal floppy drive and no internal hard disk. I have seen some pics of Outbound 125s with no floppy drive. If someone has pics, I'm wondering if the Outbound can handle both an internal hard drive AND floppy drive qt the same time or...
The killy clip I bought came from eBay. I looked around for the right number of pins and cable end and ended up finding one for a completely different application. I think it might have been for debugging other chips but it was not specific to the 68000 and it said nothing about "killy" so it...
Good luck with it BadGoldEagle. I also had a Sad Mac error but I don't recall what it was. I ended up having to replace the Killy clip and ribbon cable. I'll be watching this pace for updates.
Has someone shared the 400k/800k floppy drive gear that gets munched up when the grease hardens? I can fix at least two drives with this object. I've got a MakerBot Replicator 2 that runs fine (bought it used).
