Behold, Myst on an SE/30. No extra work at all; it ran with no additional config beyond making sure the system was in 256 color mode. I'll be writing this up in its own thread in the Compact Mac sub-forum, but this was a quick grab for the sake of my own giddy excitement!
For the life of me, I haven't been able to find the thread, but someone on Twitter had a thread over the course of a few days where they were trying to do exactly that - get it running on a SE/30 with a color video card. I believe they were successful in the end, but I'm having a dog of a time...
Quick follow-up! I gently cleaned the board; soaked it in alcohol for a few hours; gently scrubbed the cap-affected areas with vinegar to remove corrosion; thoroughly rinsed everything for several minutes, and have returned it to the alcohol bath to finish cleaning for the evening. The results...
Woke up yesterday morning and scrolled through marketplace posts on Facebook while enjoying my coffee and came across a post that caught my eye: "Antique Macintosh Computer - Make Offer" I figured, "Oh great, a $1000 Mac Plus that's yellowed to all hell," but was stunned to see an SE form...
So, I was very disappointed to learn this afternoon that the Quadra 800 form factor Mac towers don't share the same floppy drive sled as all the other sled-equipped Macs. Given this, I modeled the one good sled I had and uploaded it to Thingiverse (and have shamelessly stolen the auto-generated...
Hmmm... you know, A/UX requires a 68030/040 with FPU and PMMU (and compatible network card, but an Asante EN/SC is allegedly supported)...
I wonder if you could trick A/UX into running on an SE or Classic, lol?
EDIT: Just realized my own stupidity - access to the PMMU and FPU are...
So, I know the IIsi and SE/30 have some hardware similarities, but I've been curious about the IIsi PDS/NuBus adapter. I've heard that the adapter can be used in an SE/30 to convert the SE/30 PDS slot to NuBus, but I've never actually heard of anyone doing so successfully. Can that adapter be...
Howdy!
I was given an external PowerBook HD that takes a 5-pin DIN power supply. The interior of the case only has two wires coming off the connector, but I can't find any info on this thing. Does anyone with experience know if that's that a 12v or 5v input? For reference, the HD I was given...
Alrighty! I finally had a chance to take a better look into this thing. It's a 512K, not a Plus (should have paid closer attention to the rear) and, according to the serial number... is an ED model. The S/N is F73734FM0001ED (that should have been a dead giveaway) and is detailed as follows:
Looks like there's an answer - from the 512Ke page at apple-history.com:
There you have it! Though, now I need to crack that case open and double check whether it's a 512Ke or a Plus...
I do have another Plus from this same batch that was a 128K/512K upgraded to a Plus, but this one is different.
The logo is the newer style found on the Plus onward.
I recently picked up a handful of compact Macs, one of which was a Mac Plus. I know it was a Mac Plus because of the form factor (and the Macintosh Plus 1MB sticker on the back), but the faceplate only had the Apple emblem - no "Macintosh Plus" label was present. I'll grab a photo when I get...
