It would be nice to have DeclROM dumps for the following Apple video cards:
Apple HPV card, ROM is U13 (341S0020)
Apple AV card, also known as "Planaria" card, ROM is U32 (341S0066)
Although both cards have been designed to be used in the PDS/VDS slot of a first-generation Power Macintosh...
PM 5500 also use Open Firmware 2.0.3 and supposedly the same ROM as PM 6500 and TAM.
I wonder what CPU_ID has been assigned to it.
Do we know TAM's CPU_ID?
Where did you get this ID mapping from?
Yes, that's right. Bit 14 corresponds to bit 6 of the Media Bay DEV_ID subregister.
The IDs register at 0xF3000034 actually contains four 8-bit registers: CPU_ID (bits 0-7), Media Bay DEV_ID (bits 8-15), MON_ID (bits 16-23) and FP_ID (bits 24-31).
I...
Those resistors are wired derectly to the OHare ASIC, see U5 (343S0172).
They form the so-called BoxID that can be obtained by reading OHare's CPU_ID register.
Disassembling of the logic board is not required.
The OHare CPU_ID register is located at 0xYY000034 where "YY" represents the base...
IIRC, both Voodoo 1/2 doesn't have any flash ROM on the card so there is nothing you can "reflash".
Those cards come with a special cable that allows to switch between the on-board video and the 3D card outputs.
Almost every Power Macintosh model uses its own ROM. Some parts of it contains common stuff. But the HW specific part varies from machine to machine. That's true for built-in drivers as well.
It's surprising that the said B&W G3 schematic doesn't reveal where the PRSNT pins of the PCI slots are connected to.
It seems there is no way for SW to obtain this information on this machine.
The predecessor of this MB - the Gossamer board - implements a system register that reflects the...
Hi crews,
did anyone ever see the schematics for the Power Macintosh G3 B&W aka Yosemite?
I was able to spot schematics for some Power Macintoshes on this forum.
There is a page out here that offers schematics for PM G3 Beige and some G4 Macs as well.
Unfortunately, no schematics for Yosemite...
There is some code in the PDM ROM that looks for a predefined signature in the DeclROM to see if one of the Apple video cards is installed in the PDS (aka VDS) slot...
You're right with that 8.4GB barrier on Beiges. I did some research on this issue. Here my results:
both Beige ROM revisions I have dumps for contain ATALOAD driver. This is actually the same old code as found in some Power Macintoshes and Power Books with default IDE support like PM 5200 or PB...
Does anyone know how to disassemble Apple 678-0136 (Panasonic CR-585-B) ATAPI CD-ROM drive?
Its controller board probably needs recapping. But I'd also like to take a closer look at the ICs and eventually dump the firmware.
I suspect that the PCB is held by the tray motor - see those fat...
Many thanks! The dump you've attached indeed contains the declaration ROM required for emulation.
FYI, I created a branch in my DingusPPC repository dedicated to PC card emulation: pc-compat
The last commit there contains initial code for loading the declaration ROM and initializing the on-card...
Disk Copy images can't store low level details of a floppy disk so they can't be used for preserving copy protected games.
That's why a2r, WOZ and a couple of other formats exist.
Copy protection software usually violate the low level floppy formats on purpose in order to make protected disks...
Interesting thread!
BTW, can someone provide me with the dump of the declaration ROM of a Houdini II card?
My DingusPPC emulator is about to emulate a Power Macintosh 6100.
I'd like to attempt at Houdini emulation someday. Such a thing wouldn't have any other value than preserving the original...
