Nice score. I was fortunate enough to acquire my 128k before SJ passed and prices skyrocketed. The power board needed the transformer replaced, but I managed to find a complete power board that was fully functional cheap but then when I put that in and powered it up I got a sad Mac and error...
I just scored a MacSnap 2mb, also. I wonder if there's enough room inside for that, too, or if I should just put that in another one of my Macs. :p
I have the right type of long shank screwdriver to loosen the screws, but the plastics on these Macs are getting kind of old and brittle at this...
Scored this for a good price even if the Hyperdrive doesn't work or is missing. It powers on, but I haven't had a chance to crack the case yet. It's heavier than my other 128k/512k machines so no reason to assume there isn't a hard drive in there.
Also came with a carry bag, keyboard/mouse...
What I've found, though, is that the battery charging circuitry tends to go before the rest of the components on the motherboard so you end up with a laptop that runs fine on AC power but is no longer portable which sort of defeats the purpose of having a laptop. You can get replacement...
That's a good score even with the 8600GT issues on those models.I found a Toshiba laptop recently with a bad motherboard so I found a new replacement motherboard and an upgraded CPU for $60 and it works fine now. It's actually better than new because the CPU is now a 2.3ghz Turion x2 Ultra. It...
But sniping services don't give you the heart pounding adrenaline rush of actually being online and placing your bid inside the last 3 seconds for the win. }:)
One of my Frankenmacs is a Q700 motherboard in a IIvx case with a PPC 601 upgrade board. It was originally going to go into a IIci case but then I acquired the IIvx and liked the sturdy metal case that was capable of supporting a monitor on top better than the IIci case.
I have the original graphite Airport base and wondered if anyone has upgraded the internal card to anything better than an Orinoco Gold card? Is there anything that supports a faster wifi standard or tougher encryption? Do you need a 5v card to upgrade these? I've seen 5v wireless g cards and...

And within a half hour after paying I had a notice of shipment and a tracking number in my Inbox.
And yes, it is a mess but it's getting better lately. ;D
I'm going to combine parts from my single and the new dual and get the dual working as my main desktop. Oh, I also picked up an Airport card for $12.50, so that's going in, too.
I have to say that it will be a lot of work to get that board back to original condition or at least functionally original. The missing chips will have to be found and if the RAM on the board is more than 128k and is soldered, then all those chips will have to be de-soldered and 64x1 chips...
It's a parts machine, (power supply bad, hard drive removed) but was being listed only as a 533mhz, nothing said about the dual processor but the photo of the back clearly showed it as a dual processor model. The ethernet port on my single 533 went bad so I am going to combine parts to get the...
The biggest reason I didn't get it before is because it was always expensive to buy it directly from them and I could never find it used. I found a copy for $6, just the CD in a jewel case, no box or manual. Handy thing to have.
Someone needs to put these files out into the open so we don't have to keep using the Wayback Machine to dig them up from their graves every time somebody needs them.
