Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
The reason I thought you could delegate the SCSI-2 Booster is due to a blurb in the PhotoBooster manual. The PhotoBooster manual claims the host Mac can access the PhotoBooster, although I have not figured out exactly how that would work. It doesn't say how either. Just says that it can be done...
Any way to delegate the SCSI-2 on the StageII off to the host system? I'm assuming no.
I will probably get a 3D printed case for the SCSI2SD so it can be mobile and hop from machine to machine. I have an OEM Radius SCSI-2 cable that came with the Rocket, it has a large rounded end on one side...
Rocket & Sound - MPEGDec Test Series
Baseline 1: IIfx Host
System 7.1.1 Pro, 80mb RAM
MPEGDec works at low settings but ties up the whole system. Making user input can cause lockup. Works as intended.
Baseline II: IIfx with Audiomedia II output
System 7.1.1 Pro, 80mb RAM
Playback at...
Plan is to get a SCSI2SD v6 RevF with a fast 16gb SD card. Testing that others have done indicates that the SCSI2SD v6 should be able to completely saturate the IIfx SCSI bus.
HDD in there now is an IBM 2gb drive from 1996.
Hate to necro the sticky, but here goes!
As everyone knows, sound doesn't mix well with the Radius Rocket, at all. I'm trying to get MPEGDec working on my StageII rocket as there is an article on LEM that claims it works, "but requires further testing".
Well, it kind of works. The problem is...
I agree! It's my favorite Macintosh.
Here are some screenshots of the beast running. I ran 250000 runs of Dhrystone on both the IIfx host and the Rocket StageII. Benchmark was run with AppleTalk and File Sharing active.
IIfx 40mhz 68030/68882: 5681.8 Dhrystones per second
Radius Rocket 40mhz...
I will report this next time I have the IIfx apart, they are Okidata brand chips. Perhaps it's listed in the manual for the NB, I will check that too.
As for newer CPU/DeclROMs I doubt it. I haven't seen many different revisions of the Apple Ethernet NB. There is a much newer version from...
I had no idea that those are even called ZIP sockets! Thanks for sharing. I wonder if the card would even use the extra memory if equipped? It's not mentioned in the rather thick user manual.
Are you talking about the small amount of DRAM on the card? AFAIK that DRAM is dedicated to the card's 68000 for running the networking microkernel.
I did some heavy work today on the IIfx, scanning old photos with an Epson ES-600C tri-color lamp scanner. The resulting files were fairly large*...
At this point it would be worth removing all of the old capacitors off the board, cleaning the board with contact cleaner or alcohol, and then putting new caps. Use high quality Japanese ones. Almost all II series Macs will need new caps either now or very soon. My made in 1992 IIfx just started...
Thought I would do a write up on my absolutely loaded Macintosh IIfx, now that the build is largely complete. Last night I got around to recapping the board, removing SMD electrolytic caps that were starting to leak. I also replaced most of the radials, leaving the yellow ones in as I had no...
Bought a Mac Rominator II Mega from BMOW for my IIfx, along with the SIMM programmer. Booting from a ROM disk is lightning quick. I already customized the ROM with the Apple/Radius 24AC driver and some additional games and software.
On my list of long-term to do is to modify the startup chime...
Did you try using the Jackhammer without the Radius card? Perhaps there is a weird conflict between the two? Test with onboard video if you haven't yet.
Scratch what I said a day ago. It works great in my Radius 81/110. System software voodoo stopped it from working right for me. The stock System 7.5.1 image from Radius is the newest version of the Mac OS that I can get working with the Video Vision Studio. The internal SCSI bus is fast enough...
Do you have a copy of FWB Hard Disk Toolkit? I would try out the FWB drivers instead of the Apple ones in this case.
Does the Radius card work in the slot(s) where your Hammer doesn't? I'm asking because if I remember right the Q950 Nubus is split into two bus transceiver domains, with 3 slots...
Could it be that your specific Q950 dislikes the SCSI Jackhammer? Your not having any crashes with just the Radius video card, correct?
It's unlikely that 3 Jackhammers are bad. What SCSI hard drive are you using, and what drivers are loaded on that drive? I have seen the Macintosh system...
I'm going to point out the obvious - have you tried resetting the PRAM? Pull the battery and hold down "Cmd+Opt+P+R" at boot time before the screen comes up with a happy mac.
Were there ever any incidents where one of the cards popped out of the nubus slot while the system was on?
I haven't tried 7.0.1. Given how 7.0.1 and 7.1 are similar I would be surprised if it was the system software itself causing these crashes, but who knows with the Rocket. I will give 7.0.1 a try when I have free time.
7.1.1 Pro with RocketShare is pretty stable, at least in my experience. It...
Just an anecdotal observation of mine; the GE PSU for the IIcx/ci seems to be more reliable. Out of my sample size of 2, the Astec that came with my IIcx is dead, while the GE that came in my IIci works great even under heavy load with a fast disk and Radius Rocket.
Are the designs of the Astec...
My VideoVision Studio is pretty fickle. You will have much better luck selecting resolutions at the startup of the Mac using the "T" key. Just hold it down when the Radius logo shows up. Changing the resolution from within Mac OS has always caused garbling for me. I could never get mine to work...
