    A very late 040

The Power Mac Book by Ron Pronk has a lot of in-depth technical information about the first-gen PowerPC Macintosh computers, including Gary Davidian's 68K emulator.

    LabVIEW

There was GPIB hardware connected to the Macintosh. It could have been connected to the serial ports or to a NuBus card. The manual is dated 1994-1995, so that would put it in the System 7.5 era.

Getting started with application development for System 6/7

I've posted a handful of development tutorials on the Mac 512K Blog. They're in assembly language, and will run on any Mac. Even if you don't end up using assembly language for your project, you can still see the Toolbox calls in action and how they're used. Check out MacTutor, especially the...

‘020 and ‘030 accelerators for 68000 Macs—what’s the memory map?

Unless you're Microsoft Word, Excel, Chart.... etc, who all do non-standard things with the Memory Manager and must be located within the first 1 MB of RAM. The Macintosh OS was special-cased for years to handle Microsoft's applications.

“There isn’t enough memory to work with another disk”

By the way, all your reasoning (or conjecture, as you called it) was correct!  bw:)

“There isn’t enough memory to work with another disk”

Yes, it's a Finder error. I have highlighted a likely cause of your memory problem. That System/Finder combination is not ideal for a Mac 128K. I recommend Finder 4.1 and System 2.0. Here is an alternate, possible solution: hold down the Command and Option keys while you insert your games...

    Question: 128k/512k and 800k drive

Yes, you can use the 800K Apple 3.5 Drive, Model No. A9M0106 with a stock Mac 128K or 512K, without any additional hardware or software. This drive can boot both 400K and 800K MFS disks. This is neat: boot the AppleShare Workstation disk or Hard Disk 20 startup disk. At first the drive will...

Getting files off an Apple III ProFile image

I sometimes use ADFS Carbon to extract files from ProDOS disk images. This is a Carbon application, so if your Mac doesn't have Rosetta, you're out of luck.

Should a 400k drive work in a Mac II or other non-compact Mac?

Sure, but there was an FDHD upgrade for the Mac II, and maybe mg.man's Mac II has been upgraded to a SuperDrive with SWIM.

Should a 400k drive work in a Mac II or other non-compact Mac?

The 400K drive won't work with a SWIM controller. There's an Apple Tech Note out there somewhere saying so, and I've verified it myself on an SE/30.

    G3 mix, should I proceed?

But wait, there's more! With their PCI slots, you can add cards for USB and FireWire, allowing more mass storage connectivity! :-)

Made ROM SIMMs, wrote ROMdisk driver, need help debugging

I don't know. I wasn't confident enough to say yes, because the text routines are on the "banned list" of routines that may move or purge memory. Yes, Chicago is in ROM since the Mac Plus.
