    Airport Original and WPA

I looked for the AES/TKIP settings in Airport Utility, but couldn't find anything. My router is the newest Airport Express model. I really have no problem using WEP on this machine, but having to set up the wireless settings each time the system is rebooted is a major PITA. I will keep searching...

    Airport Original and WPA

Wasn't sure whether to post this in the Peripherals or the G3/G4/G5 forum. I recently acquired a Power Mac G4 466Mhz (Digital Audio) computer, which I purchased an AirPort card for. I installed OS 10.4 w/ updates on it, and it was able to see my wireless network in the Airport menu. When I...

    Upgrading Performa 6360 processor...

Sonnet made upgrades for the 5400/6400 and 5500/6500 machines, but have been discontinued for quite some time, and are relatively hard to find.

    GV Teleport 56kflex ROM Updater

Would anyone happen to have the ROM updater for the Global Village Teleport 56kflex modems? I believe there are 2 versions, dated July 1998 and December 1998. I am looking for either one. Global Village has a download on their site (probably hasn't been updated in 10 years) but it points to...

Mystery PDS card - Audio out? 25-pin connector?

Could be audio/music related - I know many of the older Akai samplers used Euro DIN connectors for expansion and upgrades.

    Macintosh Performa 6116 & Roland mt-32

Yes. MIDI and sound are two totally different things. MIDI is a protocol, you can't hear MIDI.

    laserwriter II paper out

The chips marked UU, UM, LL, and LM are ROM chips, and are NOT meant to be removed! Putting them in incorrect order could damage the board, the chips, or both.

    laserwriter II paper out

There are 2 banks of RAM slots on the IIg, Bank 0 and Bank 1. If you have varying amounts of RAM, the largest amount of RAM must be in Bank 0. Also, the service manual contains a list of the different LED error codes - it sounds like you have a bad RAM chip.

Copy a floppy that is protected

I believe that the requirements are the same across the version 2.x releases. I can try and find out the specifics, though.

Copy a floppy that is protected

If you can provide a receipt of any kind (I used an eBay receipt since I bought mine on eBay), they will send you Digital Performer 2.7 on CD (doesn't require auth disk), free of charge, and register it with your account. A lot easier than trying to screw around with authorization diskettes...

How to install a usb card in my Performa 6360 ?

You are certain that this card is compatible with OS 9, and doesn't require special drivers?

    Macintosh Performa 6116 & Roland mt-32

The DB25 connector on the old Macs IS NOT a serial port! It is a SCSI port, and connecting a non-SCSI cable/device could potentially damage the system. The 8-pin round ports are the serial ports, and you need to connect to those.

    Apple MIDI Interface

Performer or Digital Performer is by far the best, IMO. Performer handles MIDI only, while Digital Performer handles MIDI as well as audio.

    6500 Motherboard in a Performa 575?

Unless you replace the internal wiring harness with that of a 580, you're only going to be able to swap Color Classic and 520/550/575 boards. Like I said before, the logic board connector is reversed, starting with the 580.

    6500 Motherboard in a Performa 575?

There is an exception. The hack *MUST* be done for the 5400 board. However, the 5500 board will work *WITHOUT* the hack, but there might be issues with PCI. I'm not sure if this is true for the 6200 or 6300, but I was able to pop a 5500 board into a 6200 and use a USB PCI card. I haven't read if...

    6500 Motherboard in a Performa 575?

The 575 has a CS I slot. The orientation of the motherboard connector on the 580 is reversed from the 575's.
