I would like to have a 1.44 MB floppy, but I think I read somewhere that it would require a logic board upgrade, and then I wouldn't be able to use a second built-in floppy. Can anyone confirm whether this is true? I'm also thinking of upgrading to an SE/30 logic board.

Yeah, the quality of the Apple TV/Video system is horrible, even for it's age.
The current software forum doesn't have enough posting traffic to warrant splitting it up into sub-forums. Like others have said, most system software discussion between System 7 and 9 are applicable to each other.
You need a MIDI interface. They range from a little box with 2 MIDI connectors (1 in, 1 out) from numerous brands, to comprehensive rackmount interfaces.
eBay would be a great place to look.
I used to use an AlphaSmart 3000 (translucent case, released around the same time as the iMac) in elementary and middle school, because of my poor ability to write. They are pretty cool. It's neat when you send the text to the computer, and it zooms by in the word processor screen.
