Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
After seeing Rasmus post his/her recent thread on early Mac power cords, I was reminded of a perennial quixotic quest of mine to re-create early System software disks. (I use the adjective "quixotic" advisedly: my quest is most likely both fruitless and pointless. And yet, I joust.)
I...
Oh man, I hope you get an answer to this. I tried to figure this problem out a few years ago and never got anywhere, but it was around the time I drifted away from the hobby. I will be watching this thread eagerly.
I was just looking at the right-angled cords in my collection. I won't include pictures unless you want, because it is so hard to know where any of my stuff is from so it won't likely help you much, but FWIW, all three are labeled Yakita (one is Yakita-S, it doesn't look any different from the...
Oh, yes, I think I have several of those angled cords in my printer cord collection. Unfortunately my collection is such a garage sale mishmash that it is hard to be certain what cords in my possession came with which computers. I'll have to go make a count of types, at least.
Thanks! I did worry about that (I already have too many dust-covered sensitive electronics). Jiffy must be a regional term though, I googled and nothing made sense... do you have a link to a pic?
If it is best to buy the plastic case and assemble then I will suck it up and deal! Just wondered...

I have a floppy emu and am rediscovering how much I love it. So much, that I'm seriously starting to think about buying additional units so that I can keep them permanently attached to...
Try searching eBay, people often have auctions on key caps from specific keyboards. Can be a bit expensive per key, but if you just need the one, could be worth it.
The ImageWriter printer driver will need to be in the System Folder in order to select it in the Chooser. It should be installed automatically, but if it's not there, a copy should be easy to locate.
I don't know about Return to Zork (sounds like that one is off limits), but I think the Zork Anthology is just a collection of the old text adventures, which should run on any old Mac. You can test the theory by downloading a copy from Mac Garden before bidding on the ebay auction. Once you copy...
BadGoldEagle: as for scratches, it depends on whether they are really scratches, or transfers/scuff marks.
Start, if possible, with an area that is out of the way, and try using the magic eraser technique. If it is a scuff or paint transfer, you should gradually see the mark disappear. If it is...
