Is it possible to upgrade a eMac G4 CPU to a 2ghz G4?

Hello, I'm thinking about getting a eMac 1.25 or 1.42, but I was wondering if the CPU can be upgraded to a 2ghz G4. I know it's soldered on directly, but would it be possible to put a 2ghz G4 in it's place? That would be cool to have a fast eMac while also booting into Mac OS 9 and 10.5 Leopard.

Is it possible to make a Sonnet HARMONi G4 500/FireWire?

But the eMac doesn't have the color variations as the iMac G3. Also, couldn't someone else do the project for me with $?

Is it possible to make a Sonnet HARMONi G4 500/FireWire?

So I'm thinking of getting a iMac G3 Tray Loader and upgrading it to have a Sonnet HARMONi G3 upgrade, but also have a G4 and Firewire 400. Well, the 600mhz uses the G3 750cx, which I didn't think can be upgraded, but the 500mhx has the regular G3 750 and the 750 can be replaced with the G4 7410...

Newton Virus needs to be updated. :D

Let that old prank application stay on abandonware sites. It only worked on 10.0 thru 10.5 because it utilized PPC code. It worked on the Intel versions of 10.4 and 10.5 because of Rosetta. 10.7 dropped Rosetta, so if you want to rewrite it for Mac os 12 on both Intel and Apple Silicon, you can...

Is it possible to make modern replica PowerPC Macs?

Well, could we just make them without the roms? That's what some Mac clones did back in the day. The end user had to provide the roms to boot them, either original or third party.

Looking for Mac Hack CDs!!! :-D

I just saw the recent MacYak podcast, the owner/admin of Macintosh Garden confirmed that the website will come back soon. If that jerk Maedi ever shows up again here or there, we will block him. He shall never hack Macintosh Garden or 68kmla ever again! As for the Macintosh Garden admins, I...

Is it possible to make modern replica PowerPC Macs?

PowerPC chips are still being made, even if manufacturing is now handled by Power.org. In fact, the Perseverance rover uses the same chip as the iMac G3: The G3. That got me thinking, wouldn't it be possible to make replica and working PowerPC Mac's? Think about it, replica boards that are...

Why hasn’t anyone made a G5 upgrade and is it even possible to upgrade a G4 to a G5?

Oh wait, you're right. The PowerMac G3 we're the ones who had removable cpu cards. Sorry about that.

Is it possible to make modern replica Macintosh Processor Upgrade/Power Mac Processor Upgrade cards

In the 90's, it was possible to upgrade a 68k Mac to PowerPC with the Macintosh Processor Upgrade Card and or the Power Mac Processor Upgrade, depending on the model. However, those have a 601e cpu and can only go up to 9.1 with some patches to Mac OS (68k Macs can only go up to 8.1). I was...

Why hasn’t anyone made a G5 upgrade and is it even possible to upgrade a G4 to a G5?

When the G5 came out, Apple promised a 3ghz PowerMac and G5 iBook and MacBook, but Apple never made one. Apple said there were problems with IBM's manufacturing and the intense power usage, but that has me wondering something. Why didn't third party companies try to make G5 upgrades for G4...

Making modern iMac G3 I/O Doors

Hello, have you ever noticed that some tray loading iMac G3's are missing their i/o door? Well, that can be annoying when you're looking for a iMac G3 to buy. What's worse is that there are no spare parts online, so if you want a door, you'll need to pull it from a donor iMac G3. I think it's...

Making modern iMac G3 Mezzanine peripherals

Ok, I have another idea. The idea is to build a modern SD and CF card adapter for the iMac, that way, you can use SD cards and CompactFlash and transfer files between the modern web and the old mac. I think that would be useful.

"Dumping" Protected GALs - Any Tricks?

I think SuperSVGA should lend the SE/30 Ethernet card to Bolle since he has reverse engineered the GALs of the MicroMac accellorator card to make his own replicas. I think he can help.

Making modern iMac G3 Mezzanine peripherals

The Revisions A and B have the Mezzanine slot. The revisions C and D remove the connector, but not the pads (making it possible to solder on a connector). The Slot loaders were the ones who removed the mezzanine pads.

Making modern iMac G3 Mezzanine peripherals

Sonnet's Harmoni G3 cpu upgrades for the iMac G3 came with their own panels that you can swap the original out with. The reason was if the User wanted to add the optional Firewire port that came with the cpu upgrade. I was thinking of having a similar idea to this for the mezzanine accessory.

Making modern iMac G3 Mezzanine peripherals

Ok, here's a concept image. It's a iMac G3 side panel. The Mezzanine panel would be a replica Sonnet Harmoni G3 pannel, but also have cutouts for S-Video and VGA. As for the card, my idea is a replica 3dfx Game wizard that also has a ForMac SCSI card and a Griffin iDock built in, albeat the db15...
