    iMac g3 wifi?

Haha, no way that one's happening... They have hardwood floors all over the house and would never put a hole in them. I'm mainly looking for USB dongles (brand/model) that will work with (preferably both) OS9 and OSX. I'm trying to stay below about $40 on this one.

    iMac g3 wifi?

I just gave an iMac g3 to a friend and she's put it downstairs in her house. Her house only has wired ethernet upstairs, however they have a wifi network as well. What's the best(ie cheapest) way to connect this iMac to the wifi network? Original AirPort cards are out, looked at eBay and...

Quadra 950.... mmmmmmm.... Why the prices?

Yeah, we're shifting into the 'free g3-era' era now... I recently picked up 5 (!) iMac G3s (DVs too!) off Freecycle. They're getting very cheap now, and the 68ks are going up in price.

    Linux on my B&W!

Why? It's not THAT hard... though if you refuse to use the first text-based tool you find, then no, Slackware isn't for you. Kubuntu probably would suit you well, though. (Note to clarify: No offense was intended in the previous. Please do not take any without permission. If you wish to have...

    I Give Up!

Well of course you can do it much easier in Windows. The dongle is DESIGNED for Windows. Also, most drivers aren't hard to install. A quick Google reveals many with similar issues, but, going out on a limb here, why not just go out and get a...

    3 Compact Macs

If you can ever get that disk out, make an image ASAP and send it my way. Any format's fine, though disk copy is obviously preferred.

I have the transitions and they're nice but if they cost any extra don't bother.

Best OS for a Quadra 800

To be pedantic, a Styrofoam couch would be quite stable. It's actually a very strong material, and a solid couch made out of it would be very stable, if not comfortable. Durability is another story. Anyway, go with 7.1. Better system requirements.

    Compaq Portable!

OK, made some progress on it. Apparently this is a PIMPED Compaq Portable... It's got a 386(!) processor card, a presumably large amount of memory(wouldn't be surprised if it was 640k!) and, oddly, a hard drive card... minus the hard drive. That was what was causing the 1701 error, and when...

    Compaq Portable!

This is the original. 9" green-screen CRT, dual 5.25 floppy drives, all slots filled with cards(one of them's a printer card, one's a tv-out card, one's a serial, the others are the defaults)

Linux of any sort on a Beige G3

Does Ubuntu still have PowerPC support? I thought they ended that around 6.10 or so.. I don't have much advice for installation, but if you do get anything installed, use a light WM. Fluxbox used to be my favorite, but I just found FVWM2-Crystal, which is a 'pretty' version of FVWM2, and it...

    Compaq Portable!

Still no OS disks so it just blinks and then after a huge amount of time says 1701 and tries to access the floppy drive(presumably meaning 'No OS found on disks') Need to find a 5.25 floppy disk drive, other than my Apple II one. I've got a few computers that can use it and I know where to get...

I got a free Compaq Portable! It was disassembled and didn't have any disks but it's reassembled and works now.

    Sun Ultra 10

I personally like the new and upcoming Fluxbuntu because it combines the nice, easy Ubuntu and the lightness of Fluxbox. Xubuntu's cool too. On the topic of paying for software: I have payed for: 100% of the software currently on my Windows gaming box 0% of the software that's currently on...

    x486emulation

Well, reactOS is in early alpha if i remember correctly. I think I tried it on a real PC a good while ago and it seemed like a pretty decent Windows clone, but a little buggy.

    x486emulation

No problem. I mainly use QEMU with my Linux box(None of my OSX Macs are fast enough to actually do much in the way of emulation) but I'm pretty sure the principle's the same.

    8600, G3 tower and Applevision 720

That 8600 sounds awesome. The g3 would be useful too, but the 8600 sounds like it would be great for almost any vintage Mac usage. Great value for $20, I think.

    x486emulation

http://www.kju-app.org/kju/ can emulate a full PC... only for OSX though(it's a port of QEMU, which is for all current platforms.)
