Dead SE/30 Power Supply (no fan, no voltages at floppy connector)

You should better open a new post... Check this IC and the MOSFET next to it. Could be the culprit.

Metrowerks CodeWarrior Best Version and Updates

Also quite interested... I'm right now in a project using Symantec C++ 7 and I'm not too satisfied. I get funky errors when using the FPU and some other issues. What would be the recommended version of CW to run on a 68K and System 7?

Slow SPI (Half Speed) BlueSCSI DB25

Yes, I totally agree that every xxxSCSI alternative deserves independent and unbiased reviews, exposing pros and cons.

Slow SPI (Half Speed) BlueSCSI DB25

There's a huge number of users that just want a single device in their Macs and don't care about termination. The good thing here is to have different solutions for different needs, and for different budgets... There's people (like me) that just enjoy more building themselves a BlueSCSI or...

Slow SPI (Half Speed) BlueSCSI DB25

It's really disturbing... I keep reading always these reactions when the word BlueSCSI is mentioned in this forum... I'm still waiting to know about a BlueSCSI user that had one failing because of its design. What is clear is that is a low-cost device, which uses components such as the BluePill...

    SCSI2SD ... ZuluSCSI ...

Another one here suggesting BlueSCSI as starting point. Is cheap enough to give it a try. I've built 7 or 8 already, and it just works. There's people having success with non-Mac systems, but it was meant initially to be used on Mac and probably SCSI2SD is the best general-purpose HD emulation...

Best cable for discharging Mac Plus CRT

Yours seems a fair and informed advice, but it's not easy not overthinking when you hear about risks of damaging your beloved old Mac... :)

Best cable for discharging Mac Plus CRT

All that should be connected... You'll see that the ground cable of the board goes always to the top-left corner of the CRT, that's where people clips the discharge cable. (Found this random image... the "Yoke" is not that, but ok...)

Best cable for discharging Mac Plus CRT

The technique is always to attach the discharge cable to the metal frame of the CRT. I don't think a week is necessary, but if you aren't in a hurry, 24/48 hours should be enough and then discharge. For the cable I'm making I ordered these clips and these 1M resistors, then I'll solder using...

Best cable for discharging Mac Plus CRT

According to this page (points 3 and 4), the Plus doesn't have the bleeder resistor. It mentions damage to the logic board, but I heard reports of people damaging the analog board too... Many people does it with a plain cable, but now I'm not confortable doing it again...

Best cable for discharging Mac Plus CRT

Most models include bleeder resistors that will progressively discharge the CRT. Which one is yours? A Plus? In all the times I discharged a CRT I only had once a loud (and scary) Pop! when doing it to a Mac that was just turned off

Best cable for discharging Mac Plus CRT

Well... It seems there's no consensus about this. I always used a plain cable without resistor, but it seems that this can (not so rarely) cause damages. So I'm making myself a new cable with several 1 MOhm 2W resistor... still investigating how many I should put in series

Suitable RIFA Replacement for International Mac Plus

That's reasonable. Although, frankly speaking, the cap sold by Console5 seems to me quite similar https://console5.com/store/0-47uf-310v-metallized-polyester-film-x2-safety-capacitor-nic-components.html Be careful that the big Rifa is not included in the kit, you need to order it separately. I...

Suitable RIFA Replacement for International Mac Plus

Well... you can simply trust it's fine. I just like to take the multimeter and verify that are OK by checking the value. Capacitors are cheap components, so I don't think these are a target for fakes...

Suitable RIFA Replacement for International Mac Plus

I think these cheap caps should be good... I will just measure them before installing. I heard the RIFA aren't really needed, as are to filter the power line of interferences created by the computer, so it doesn't affect other appliances in the house... I will just put it because I like this...

Suitable RIFA Replacement for International Mac Plus

These are the options I'm checking: From Mouser: https://www.mouser.ch/ProductDetail/80-PME271M647KR30 And this cheaper one from AliExpress: https://aliexpress.com/item/1005003528962862.html I think I could go to the AX one...

Suitable RIFA Replacement for International Mac Plus

I'm checking this right now and I was thinking that the big RIFA was 0,47uF for the Int'l version... now you made me doubt

    Macintosh LC 475

I got too those VRAM from @Siliconinsider and are wonderful. Just be careful of getting the ones with higher speed as the normal ones of 100ns won’t work well with an OC system. p

How were the floppies included with the Plus?

That's a great work! The jewel cases with the glossy labels are gorgeous! It's good to know about those labels with spaces between the labels, because now I need to arrange in a way that the backgrounds don't interfere. I just enjoy making the labels, although the work is not so delicate. Today...
