Tiger Installed, but Won't Boot on 12" PB G4

I've installed Tiger onto my 12" 867MHz PowerBook G4 using the Garden image, and it seemed to install correctly. However, when I try to boot from that drive, it tries to boot for a little bit, until I'm greeted with a disappointing grey 🚫/"not" sign. I tried verbose boot, and got an error...

Mac OS 8.1 on SE/30, and RaSCSI Daynaport

I put 8.1 on my SE/30, which runs fairly well! However, I haven't been able to install the drivers for my RaSCSI's Daynaport emulation. It says the folder "Network" cannot be modified by the installer, and the Garden page for the drivers only mentions it being compatible with System 6/7. I'm...

    RaSCSI-Boot-6.0.8.hda_.zip

I also have several 1MB sticks that I'd be happy to get rid of!

    RaSCSI-Boot-6.0.8.hda_.zip

Have you tried connecting the RaSCSI using the internal cable, in place of the HDD? If not, try that, and only have the 6.0.8 image attached. That way we can rule out (or... rule in?) the external SCSI connector as an issue.

    RaSCSI-Boot-6.0.8.hda_.zip

What model Mac is the RaSCSI hooked up to? Are you using the command line or web interface to manage the RaSCSI? If you post what your configuration looks like that might be helpful. You wouldn't need to image a floppy - you can boot directly from the virtual SCSI disk.

    RaSCSI-Boot-6.0.8.hda_.zip

It's not clear to me what your issue is - I believe those images are set up as 40MB disks, so all that sounds correct. Have you placed the image in your RaSCSI's disk directory and assigned it a SCSI ID?

    Accessing the Internet

Oh, never mind, if you aren’t able to ping anything anyways that won’t work. It sounds like the issue is likely with your PPP configuration, or with the wifi modem. Have you been able to use the wifi modem to dial BBSes and such? Unfortunately I haven’t used PPP before so I won’t be any help...

    Accessing the Internet

    Try 1.1.1.1 and/or 8.8.8.8

    Accessing the Internet

Are you able to ping external IP addresses directly? Also, what are your DNS settings? I'm not familiar with FreePP but that's where I'd check first.

    Macintosh SE Mouse pointer stuck

Aha, didn't realize that was so late, but fortunately that should run on an SE (slowly) if you have a drive with that installed.

    Macintosh SE Mouse pointer stuck

You can check the voltage of the ADB ports to see if you're getting 5V (http://www.interfacebus.com/ADB_Pinout.html) If you're not getting 5V, check traces on the board. Might just be a broken trace. If you are getting 5V, and your keyboard has a soft-power button, you can see if that button...

    Macintosh SE Mouse pointer stuck

Does a keyboard work? Or is ADB completely busted in general?

gb6: game boy emulator for System 6

This looks great! Looking forward to seeing it progress & trying it out. I agree that targeting an '030 would have a good chance of being playable.

Corrupted HDD Image With Bad SCSI Cable

That would have really helped here! I can see why it's so easy to end up with stockpiles of these things, lol And if anyone's wondering why I specified that I ran it on UTM on my M1 - I tried it on my Linux server and my Windows PC using QEMU, and it *ran*, but unusably slowly. It worked much...

Corrupted HDD Image With Bad SCSI Cable

Okay, phew, it's been a bit of work, but I've figured it out and recovered the drive with no issues. Here's what I did: Installed UTM on my M1 Macbook Air Installed OS X Tiger on that from an image up on the Internet Archive Got that on my network to transfer files via FTP Sent the corrupt...

Corrupted HDD Image With Bad SCSI Cable

I don't necessarily suspect the OS/system folder - since the volume can't be mounted at all, I think it's just the partition. But I'm not completely sure what the "this disk is damaged and needs to be initialized" error means.

Corrupted HDD Image With Bad SCSI Cable

I finally got around to playing around with the image in CiderPress, and CiderPress happily opens the image, and the files appear to be fine. So I tried to copy all the files from that image to a fresh one, but that didn't seem to work. I think CiderPress doesn't like it if you try to copy over...

Trouble Installing DaynaPort Drivers for RaSCSI

RaSCSI makes it super easy if you're at all familiar with Linux and general basic networking concepts (assigning IP addresses, and typing in configuration). And if you aren't, it's still easy enough to learn!

Corrupted HDD Image With Bad SCSI Cable

Hey all, I've been using a RaSCSI with my SE/30, which worked great until I bought a cheap SCSI cable on Amazon and tried to use it. I apparently upset the SCSI gods and goddesses and now my main boot image won't load. When I try to mount it from another boot disk, it tells me the disk is...

Trouble Installing DaynaPort Drivers for RaSCSI

Zero issues! The hardest part was figuring out the right settings for MacTCP, but I've upgraded my board to an SE/30 since and with OpenTransport it's a breeze.
