    LC 475 won't startup after recap...why?

Were you able to solve this? If not yet resolved, try checking the voltages coming off the PSU. I’ve heard the LC/2/3/475 (and all their variations) can require recaps as well.

LC 520 Screen Flickers and Distorts - What should I check?

I agree with @techknight, your analog board capacities are probably just phoning it in at this point. but just in case, you can try reseating your vram, logic board, and analog board (it slides into a connector under that metal shield much like how the logic board down below does. If you can...

LC II not being able to see two hard drives at the same time

Seconding this. SCSI is not considered hot-pluggagable. You run the risk of cooking the SCSI controller and/or any device on the scsi bus by plugging and unplugging devices while the computer is powered on. And I agree, sounds like both drives have the same ID. Change the external ID to...

    Color Classic sound issue

Weak or no audio is a classic symptom of bad caps. Likely the cause on your CC no audio issue. Id say just remove the battery and keep it out. Especially for the CC and 550 as they are soft-power machines and will maintain PRAM when shut down from the Special menu/keyboard, so long as the main...

    Color Classic / SCSI2SD v5.5 not terminated

The chip U7 looks like it picked up some corrosion from C6. Not sure if that has anything to do with SCSI, but I’d definitely try to get that part cleaned up. Any remnants of old leaking capacitor fluid can cause electrical issues, and later corrosion. Scrubbing that off may help. If you didn’t...

    Color Classic / SCSI2SD v5.5 not terminated

IIRC, ID 7 is always the computer. So in that picture, it looks like neither your internal hard drive or the SCSI2SD are seen. Has the logic board been recapped yet?

    Color Classic / SCSI2SD v5.5 not terminated

Is your v5.5 the one that plugs into the external SCSI port or an internal style set up in an external enclosure? When you run scsiprobe, are you seeing the drives at two different IDs? Are you setting the entire SCSI2SD to appear as one physical drive with multiple partitions? Or is it set to...

OSX 10.3 install on G3 Lombard succeeds once, then stops booting

Ah, I totally forgot the Lombard had official 10.3 support, was thinking it was cut off after 10.2.8.

Mac LC 520 Internal SCSI Hangs On Startup

I’d check termination on the drive. Some have a place for physical termination packs on the circuit board of the drives. If that looks good, have you recapped the 520’s logic board yet? If not, that may be a contributing factor.

    PowerBook G3 Lombard keys 3 - E - D - C are not functioning.

Can confirm the Lombard keyboard is extremely sensitive. When upgrading my hard drive on mine back in ~2007, despite being careful I ended up with a column of dysfunctional keys. Never had that issue with any other PowerBook, including the Pismo. Lombard revision of that keyboard is just very...

PB3400c new PRAM battery - recommended hack job?

Hi Byrd, Since no one else has responded, I’ll share what I did. On my 3400c I took out the PRAM and have kept it out so as to not have to worry about a replacement leaking down the road. And really, the PRAM battery isn’t necessary on this model. If you are lucky enough to have a working main...

2400c - How to keep it working?

I guess it’s time to remove my PRAM battery this weekend as well. Not looking forward to the take apart process.

OSX 10.3 install on G3 Lombard succeeds once, then stops booting

Once booted back up from a CD, did you try running XPostFacto again to install all the patches and reset caches again? And fix permissions if possible. I owned a Lombard way back and it ran 10.4.x decently well through XPF.

Hi @Bolle I’d be interested in a set of the main board and rj45 daughterboard if you have another run of them.

@AlpineRaven Thank you for that link, I'll explore that option a bit more.

    PowerBook 5300ce - 8.1 or 8.6?

@Franklinstein Aside from the incredibly weak power jack connection, the 5300 (for me at least) wasn’t a bad starter computer back when it was only 4 years old and the plastics and hinges were still strong. Incidentally, re-soldering my first 5300cs’ powerjack was my first time ever using a...

    PowerBook 5300ce - 8.1 or 8.6?

Some great points on here.  I’d definitely like HFS+ support, so that means I’d need at least an install of 8.1 or above. @Franklinstein, funny enough my first Macintosh was a used PowerBook 5300cs back around 2000, and I ran 7.6.1 on it for way longer that 7.6.1 should have been a primary...

    PowerBook 5300ce - 8.1 or 8.6?

Torn on which OS to put onto a 5300ce. While 8.6 can run on it, are any features over 8.1 worth the performance trade off?  It’s too slow for Classilla to be significantly usable. Current specs are near stock, including 1.2 (?) GB hard drive and 800*600 LCD. However, it does have the RAM at...

    Micron Xceed docs on ebay

Not sure if anyone is still following this thread. The pages here seem to match up to some of the pages visible in that eBay listing, as well as the Micron Xceed ROM.sit file containing a folder called Rob is Barts Friend, looks interesting but I haven't had a chance to actually look through...

    Macintosh LC475 upgrades

Unfortunately, it bombs out (type 10) while loading :/  It made it just far enough to show off the splash screen, so definitely farther along than normal (an outright error about requiring a floating point unit). Definitely check it out.  I grew up playing it on Windows computers.  Had no idea...
