Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
My goal is to have the best 'recovery' boot in the ROM, which would allow fixing as many different situations as possible.
So far, with the base 2.25MB image before compression I have been able to fit:
System Folder 7.0.1
(patched) Apple HD SC Setup 7.5.1
Disinfectant 3.7.1
Disk Copy...
Where did you find the oscillator info for the 5x0s?
Is this not the part we are seeking?

Does anyone have experience with kynix?
Bolle, I have 2 extra 16MB cards (already have a 16MB card inside my 520c) with empty connector pads on the back. Could I send these to you to convert to a 32MB and play with getting 64MB or 128MB recognized?
I would love to play around with a Macintosh SE/30 and max it out (including ROMinator II), but all I have with m68k is a Macintosh Classic and PowerBook 520c.
At least I've gotten the Control Strip to play well on 68000 (vMac Classic), but I think this will likely not surprise anyone.
Haha! I guess that depends on your definition of 'worthwhile'... Similar to XPostFacto, OS9Helper, and Born Again, I was just curious how far I could push the older macs that Apple dropped with 7.6. I did some extensive searching before coming across this thread and was happily surprised that...
Has there been any more progress on this?
I was thinking if it would be worth going through the 7.6 installed system file and adding in resources one at a time into the Disk Tools system file to determine when and what breaks the boot up.
I would highly recommend against using the Iomega driver and use the patched version of Apple's HD SC Setup, since not only will the disks be bootable, but you'll have a lot less issues using the disks in systems that don't have the Iomega driver.
Zip drives and their disks are extremely handy...
It seems that the 540c and the 550c M68k daughterboards have identical Apple Part number of 820-0559-A? If you still have the XC68040FE33M, I would like to buy it.
I'm curious about the oscillator replacement - do you have before/after photos of that also? or is that in a separate post?
Back to topic, I would easily buy a 128M, 64M, or hell even a 32M 5x0 card from you if the 128M/64M cards don't work out.
I am still interested in replacing the 68LC040 in my PowerBook 520c with a proper 68040 for the hardware FPU. Was there any update other than finding out both replacements were fakes? Are there any places to get a real MC68040FE33A?
What about getting a MC68040FE40A ? Would that require getting...
