buy a plate of sheet metal and cut the shim in to a square a big as the square on the heat shield ( you will see what i mean when you open the machine up ) place the shim on top of it close the machine up dont screw it down see what it does continue in this fashion...

my point is that your reference to the freely downloadbale state of mac os 7.5 .3 is in ths scase useless because it doesnt run on an ibook explain to me exactly what use downloading 7.5 or indeed the fact that its free ware is to somebody with an ibook ? saying that no...

tiger can boot from usb why not fix it up and use a ide to cf adapter for it ? i am considering doing that to my icebook it runs fine ( for its doing ) but the hd is noisey i dont keep my whole life on that book 8 gig would be enough scrapping it for a digital picture...

also tiger was only availble as a dvd you had to send your dvd in to get a set of 6 cd's back some retailers also stock the cd version but usually it is dvd keep that in mind

but the shimis only a temporary fix eventually the bga wil deteriorate further and die complelelty the only ure fire way to repair it is by having ir reflowed or do the reflow your self with a paintstripper
