I hear it's possible - I know for sure that the second slot for sure does not support anything larger than 16MB, I tried it. But just one 64MB stick would give me a theoretical max of 84MB. And maybe the DOS card would see a full 64MB stick too but I'm not holding my breath on that one.
One of my favorites. Maybe because it was also my first 68k? The DOS compatible ones are super cool, that's what I have.
Mine is also overclocked to 40MHz and has a full '040 chip. HUGE improvement over 33MHz.
I've had it maxed out at 52MB memory for years but now have come across some 64MB...
Not much up here, 20 cents a pound or so. Just took in a bunch, didn't get what I expected. :sadmac:
I definitely woulda picked these up though, good score. Seems to me they're a little more useful than a G5 and they look just as cool.
I don't know which one of those boards would work, match part numbers for yours, I guess? Although ~$150 is obscene. Recap if you can do it is a LOT cheaper, or maybe just find another iMac that you can score a good/better analog board from? They're still dirt cheap.
I'd probably hold off on...
OMG... now I need a clear one. Had no idea those existed.
I know I've got a couple Gateway branded mice, had a black Dell at one point and maybe still do plus several unbranded mice, and I might even still have one without the scroll wheel but shaped the same. I used to have a "MousePort"...
... or perhaps in the last 15 years?
My old boss had one of these and was very protective of it. I used it once and gained an instant fetish for them... and never found one outside of eBay where they wanted way too much money for a dang mouse. I believe this almost completes my collection -...
Probably goes without saying but have you tried the 3x PRAM zap trick? Hold command, option, P and R right after the startup chime until you hear the startup chime again.
I mean it could be a hardware issue, could be caps, who knows, but the PRAM zap trick fixed a lot of weird stuff back when...
Just for fun you should try booting as normal, wait a bit, then try command-control-power shortcut keys. This bypasses the RAM test and usually you get video almost immediately.
Have you tried different memory? What about disconnecting everything from the logic board except the power...
I would offer an educated guess that all server variants had standard SCSI PCI cards AND 10/100 ethernet cards - every one I've seen did. They also had factory 72 pin SCSI hard drives.
I have both a flashed Radeon 9200 and a Radeon 7000 Mac Edition. IMO the 7000 is the superior card right out of the box because it's better supported. My 9200 has always had weird quirks with the drivers and whatnot, and it's not much faster, if at all even though it's got 4x more memory.
Well this has been very enlightening, and an interesting discussion.
Unfortunately I do not have much in the way of peripherals or a monitor for this thing. I have it hooked up to my LC630's video input at the moment. It works but the image rolls slowly - didn't work on my CRT TV either, I...
Gotcha. This thread has at least tripled my Apple II knowledge so far, lol.
So this thing is for sure a ][ Plus, then, and not a ][ (no plus)?
I do have a bunch of Apple II software that I kept - will have to sort through and try some of it.
From what limited information I have found, it's definitely not an early model (black expansion slots and '78 copyright date) although the Language Card indicates that it's not a late production unit either, right? The fan is pretty interesting - it actually has its own power cord and a lamp...
I picked up this thing from an estate sale. It was sitting in a corner on top of a bunch of car batteries and electronics trash but it looked special so I had to have it!
I know virtually nothing about Apple II hardware but it appears to have a legit ][ motherboard, power supply, and bottom...
Keep in mind that the beige G3's went through a lot of revisions and have, in my opinion, more than and average number of quirks.
I was not aware that they would boot anything less than Mac OS 8. 7.6.1 is new information to me. So is the sound simply not working? And is this the internal...
I don't recall the 63x machines being more prone to capacitor failure than any other equipment - do they even have the leaky electrolytics like a lot of the others in that era do? I could be wrong but my LC630 is the only one I haven't recapped - it's been a few years but there must have been a...
I need to stop. I haven't even turned on the 6200 and have done very minimal playing around with the rest, but I just HAD to pick up a pair of LCIIs and a 600E CD-ROM drive. One of the LCIIs appears to boot, the other suffered a battery explosion but came with a IIe card (!!!) that I don't...
Good work! That was totally worth the effort to fix, those are neat machines.
FWIW I might have tried an electrolysis tank to remove the rust. Basically what it involves is a solution of water and washing soda and a DC power supply. You hook up one end of the power supply (negative) to the...
I picked up the IBM today... it's a PS/2 Model 55 SX. And... wow. I am not kidding when I say it is all like new. Monitor and keyboard included, in the original boxes. Can't wait to hook it up, it's so cool!
