    System 6 or older scripting?

What about 3rd party scripting? Pre-System 6 scripting? I've heard of Microsoft's AutoMac. It apparently worked on pre-system 6, no? Was supposed to be better than MacroMaker. Any others?

    System 6 or older scripting?

Does anyone know of a scripting platform for Classic Macs prior to AppleScript? Was there ever a 3rd party scripting tool for System 6 or earlier?

Moving files from OSX to Mac Plus 6.0.8 via FTP

Binhex is the way to go. Use Binhex 4.0 on your Mac Plus to decode the files. On OS X, you can use an app I wrote called OldHex to encode files into the BinHex format. It can be found here. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/oldhex/id415628440?mt=12

    MacTerminal 1.1 MacBinary file transfers

You need to encode the files as Binhex first, then transfer them using MacTerminal, then decode them on the Mac 512K. Use Binhex 4.0 on the Mac 512K for de-coding. I wrote a Mac OS X app to encode file for Binhex. It's called OldHex, and you can buy it here...

    Playstation 4 to Mac 512K

Hey guys, I've got a new video. I connect a Playstation 4 and a Mac 512K. I like this one because of the history that Sony and Apple together with the early compact Macs.

    Apple IIe card question

I know that Classic Macs can mount Apple II ProDOS disk images, but can they mount actual 5 1/4" disks when using the Apple IIe card and a 5 1/4" drive? Or is the drive isolated from the Mac unless the card completely takes over the Mac? And if that is the case, was there any other way to...

Mac 512K controls iTunes, uses Airplay, and views album art.

Hey guys! My last few videos have been about the Mac 512K speaking to Siri and getting a desired action from a modern Mac. While neat, I found this to be limiting, as Siri only understands a few words that that Mac 512K can speak. I've come up with a new text file system, with a two line...

    Screensaver for a 128k?

There's surprisingly more software than you think that works on a 128K. I'm always surprised over the years when I find something that does. Just recently on Ebay, I saw camera input kit designed to work on the 128K/512K. You could hook up video camera's to the breakout box. The software...

    Mac 512K/EasyShare update

Hey everyone! My last few videos revolved around the Mac 512K talking to Siri and getting a specific action to occur. While this was neat, it wasn't very practical. Siri could only understand a very limited choice of words, and certainly nothing long and complex. So I've gone back to the...

    Two Requests

Yes, Jaguar (10.2) was the last OS X variant to speak pure AppleTalk when it came to file sharing. I think Panther (10.3) could use AppleTalk for discovery, but the subsequent connection was made with TCP/IP, requiring a Mac with 7.5., and a minimum version of Open Transport and the AppleShare...

Mac 512Ke gets some modern press.

I just got the digital version today on my iPhone. I assume it's out on newsstands sometime this week. I will try to scan something in when I get a real issue. I hope they don't mind. 8-o

Mac 512Ke gets some modern press.

Hey everyone! I know some of you have followed my experiments with getting the Mac 512Ke talking to modern devices. Apparently, I caught the eye of Mac|Life magazine a while back, and they did an interview with me that is out now in the June 2013 issue. Nice to see the classic Macs getting...

Mac 512K (or 128K!) shuts itself off, using WeMo and IFTTT.

Rick, Watch my video again. I do "Power up" the Mac 512K remotely....on the iPhone....using the WeMo app!

Mac 512K (or 128K!) shuts itself off, using WeMo and IFTTT.

The disks can be in the drive before I powered it up with the iPhone app. I also could have skipped the software shutdown and just had the power killed to the Mac. But then I thought someone would chime in on here about how that's not best practices with Macs... :)

Mac 512K (or 128K!) shuts itself off, using WeMo and IFTTT.

There's no way to have it speak to power itself on if it's off!!!!! My modern iMac can't turn itself on through sheer will! LOL! I could have left the disks in there and not do the software shutdown. The Mac 512K would have powered off, and the disks would have remained in the drive for the...

Mac 512K (or 128K!) shuts itself off, using WeMo and IFTTT.

Thanks, J! I had the same thought about Apple II computers. I remember my brother had one in his II+. I went to You Tube and listened to a few different 8-bit voice synthesizers, from Apple and Atari. The truth is, the Mac's speech is in a league of it's own compared to the 8-bits. There is...
