    Resolution option disappeared (B&W + Radeon 7000)

I have a 22" 1680x1050 LCD monitor hooked up to my B&W G3 that has been chugging along fine at that resolution for quite a while now. All of a sudden, after a fresh reboot (I don't keep it running 24/7) there are no options for 1680xanything in my Monitors control panel (or control strip)...

Assembling the Fastest OS 9 Machine

I'm happy with my B&W G3 with maxed out RAM (1 GB), upgraded 1.1 GHz processor (well, it's advertised as 1 GHz but the setting goes to 11, er, I mean 1.1), and OS 9.2.2. I'm more productive in Mac OS 9 since I spend less time bullsh*tting around online.

Wha?! Max size of signiture 255 characters!

I do! I don't mind the 255 character limit. It keeps sigs from being obnoxiously large and it forces people to be clever in how they list their Macs. Anything over 3 or 4 lines is obnoxious. A sig shouldn't be bigger than the average post, IMO.

    Where are all the programmers?

*raises hand* Here's my situation. I started programming on the Mac as soon as I got my first PPC Performa in '96 (a 6116). I bought the Codewarrior "Discover" kit which was in my budget but it only included a 68k compiler. When I got comfortable with the Mac toolbox and wanted PPC speed I...

    MacOS 8: where's the love?

I, for one, enjoyed Mac OS 8 (8.6 specifically). My first Mac came with System 7.5.1 and I went through all of the updates to escape the dreaded Type 11 error. I maxed out on System 7.5.5 and stood my ground until Mac OS 8.5 was available. That's when I made the leap. My 6100 variant with 40MB...

Finally acquired a PDQ (aka Wallstreet II)!

Here's the damage (sorry about the blurry shot)... [edit: okay, I'm apparently having issues linking to flickr...stay tuned here's the link for now: http://www.flickr.com/photos/42914112@N03] The hole on the exterior is where a case screw goes. There's a nice crack going from there to the...

Finally acquired a PDQ (aka Wallstreet II)!

Sure! When I have it open to replace the screen I'll contribute what I can. Aside from the smidgen of research and newly-acquired take-apart skills, I'm fairly new to the Powerbook G3 scene.

Finally acquired a PDQ (aka Wallstreet II)!

After months of lusting for one, I finally got my mitts on the last of the ADB PowerBooks. It's the 300MHz model and the lot came with plenty of extras: DVD drive w/card, Wireless card, Firewire card, original install disk, Mac OS 9 install disc, Jaguar install disks, Airport base unit...

    Living in an OS 9.X - ADB/SerialMac World . . .

Yep. I was just looking at that port the other day thinking "Now what am I going to use *that* for?". Guess I could plug in the 56k for old times sake! lol Ah, a fellow preservationist! I still have all of my boxes too, lovingly unfolded and flattened in a tote somewhere. I'm slow to the...

    Living in an OS 9.X - ADB/SerialMac World . . .

I'm also livin' and lovin' the OS9/ADB lifestyle. I picked up a Rev. 2 B&W a year or so back and upgraded the heck out of it: maxed G3 CPU at 1.1GHz, maxed RAM (1 gig), and a Radeon 7000 (kept the original 128 plugged in for dual monitor goodness if I need it). I've always wanted one of...

    ADB Keyboard and Mouse

I've heard of using a mix of Oxy Clean and hydrogen peroxide to remove yellowing. Not sure of the specifics but it may be worth googling/binging/yahooing etc.

    Mac Classic Conquest

Thanks everyone! I saved the Mac from certain death. I work for an archaeological company and we were doing some work at a farmstead. The owners were moving out at the time and were gone by the time we made a few subsequent trips to the property. They had been bought out by a coal company and...

    Mac Classic Conquest

Greetings, long time listener, first time caller here. Well, I've been lurking for several months now and I finally have a compelling reason to register and post. I've been a Mac user since '96 having used Apple IIgs' and Macs on occasion prior to that. I do a lot of programming (Classic Mac...
