Are there any other PowerBooks that use SLA batteries?
I have a couple of 500 series batteries and it would be great if I at least had a shot at reviving them without a complete rebuilt. I seem to recall those being NiMH, but I'll certainly give this a shot if they are SLA.
I do run 8.6 on some lower spec systems like early trayload iMacs, as I find that the smaller resource footprint makes them a lot more responsive while still retaining support for Classilla and flash drives. I DO run 8.6 on a lot of OWR low spec systems-I need to downgrade my 6500.
Aside from...
The original iMac I think shipped with 8.1(or some variation thereof) so 8.1 does have native support for USB. In addition, I know the B&W G3 shipped with 8.5.5(my first came with the original install and the restore disk) and also shipped with a USB keyboard. The main significance of 8.6 is...
I'm running a Radeon 9200 in my 9600/200MP(stock).
The driver disk I have only gives hardware acceleration under 9.2.2(and the card can cause issues in 9.2.1 without the extensions installed), but it works great. I know a single 1920x1080 is no issue(I had it on a 1920x1200 Cinema for a while...
Wanted to report that I ordered a battery and it arrived today.
The battery was dead flat on being unboxed(no surprise) and it took a few minutes of my Pismo being plugged for it to even register as "charging." Once the first LED on the side started flashing, though, it charged right up in...
Trust me, the only Mac batteries I dispose of are the cheap, dangerous Chinese ones.
I recently happily deposited a badly swelled aftermarket 15"(pre-Uni) MBP battery in the recycle box at work, but I keep all genuine Apple batteries and generally put a note on them as to their last-checked...
I have very good reason to believe that the original poster does not in fact have a 7448 processor in his Powerbook as he claims.
Please see my full write-up on the subject at this link, and I certainly invite the OP to refute any statements which I've made...
I'm tempted to buy one of these.
Not too long ago, I bought a brand new 3400C battery that had only been charged by the seller(someone I know) right before he sold it to me. It lasts 3+ hours. Surprisingly enough, I have had excellent luck with 3400/Kanga batteries with only one dead one out of...
