Looking for the MacTerminal that uses Comms Toolbox

Porter - I don't have a classic Mac networked at the moment. Mind if I send you my set of backup disks?

    I got hosed.

Okay, I tried the paper clip on the ground (black) and standby (purple) and I got no fans or anything. Actually just more silence. I put the paper clip in, plugged in the power supply and got nothing. Is there more I should be doing, by chance? I started a claim with UPS, I hope that works.

Here's the latest from the seller, I would like to see any video or pics you have of the packing or damage. I did pack it and to tell you the truth, thought I did a pretty good job. The computer was wedged in the box well enough that it wouldn't move. It was also taped up at the UPS store after...

I actually thought about an iron but I quickly found the other side of the capacitor has no connection what-so-ever. There are three fairly identical chips in the area of this chip. The chip has these markings on it: 33-20 then underneath P3. Beside the P3 is a 2 in a circle. It's marked on...

Ha! Bunsen, you make me laugh. I sent a lengthy reply. What did you guys think of the chip I linked? Bad break or fixable? Thanks for the advice!!! EDIT: There were a couple of posts while I was typing, I'll check check the chip again and try the paperclip trick!

Equill, thank you! Here's the response from the seller: Hi Jeff. I'm sorry to hear it's not working. It was definitely working when it left. As a matter of fact, it was being used as a server up until 2 days before it was listed. You may want to try another power cable, that was a random cable...

    U.S. Robotics External 56.6k Serial Modem x2 :D

What kind are they? We had some black ones for work and they rocked! I still have one out in the garage. They were pricey too. You can see one at the end of The Net, Sandra Bullock uses one to send her info to the FBI.

    I got hosed.

Okay, first off here's a quick video of the chip in question: Secondly, I didn't stand on the PMU button but it was held for longer than a second. I'm not exactly sure how to completely reset the main logic board but I think I'll start a list of things I need to do to this computer. I...

Bunsen, thank you so much for your time on this post! The term "working" was so heavily implied in the auction that you are correct - it never actually says it anywhere. I agree, obviously, with stevep. The auction implied everything and delivered me a dead machine. If the machine was dead...

Here's the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=110272238208&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=001 I tried the CUDA switch and even alt-ctrl-shift-power button. Nothing. I'm still doing my inspecting of the computer looking for anything out of the...

    I got hosed.

My favorite G4 of all time is the MDD and I've never owned one, until now. I shopped around looking to replace my G4 GE and found an auction for a dual MDD 1GHz for $360 shipped (the $60 was for shipping). It was coming out of Georgia which enticed me more since I'm in Tennessee. One state...

    Speaking of cameras...

Wow, what a great find! I just pieced together a dark room set (without chemicals or paper) but don't really have room in the house yet to set up properly. I love medium format and use a Hasselblad and Rolleiflex TLR. It's good to see people still enjoy the labor of manual photography! I...

Looking for the MacTerminal that uses Comms Toolbox

Porter...sorry for dropping the ball! Okay, My MacTerminal is 3.0. And it says it uses the "Macintosh Communications Toolbox" and the number of sessions that can be opened depends on the amount of memory available to MacTerminal. So it obviously supports multiple sessions. Hope this helps...

    Mac Plus with video problem

Thanks Scott, I'm certainly having to "warm" up to the idea of getting more technical. I'll have to do a bit of research and find a decent soldering iron and then something to practice on before I delve into this Mac. I certainly don't want to learn on the Plus! I've also got an SE and SE/30...

Got Back From a Recycling Event (ATTN: NorthWest MLAers)

Hey, those are some great pics and congrats on the new Nikon! I would have done all I could to land that G4 tower in my trunk. Nice Apple II as well!

    Mac Plus with video problem

Tom, there's an error with that link but I feel like I have that document downloaded somewhere. I'll check my documents folder. I guess if I'm a true classic Mac fan I'm going to have to learn some resoldering skills if I want to enjoy them. I've avoided it thus far but I now have several...

    Mac Plus with video problem

My Plus with HyperDrive 20 had some flicker going on. I wouldn't mind so much but it's my nicest Plus so I thought I would ask you guys what you thought may be wrong with it so I could replace it with one of my spares. http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeffjackson/2659377731/

Color classic guts into Classic case?

What all is wrong with the CC? Is it just the case? My CC has a high pitched squeal to it, I suspect the CRT.

Looking for the MacTerminal that uses Comms Toolbox

Hmm...good question. It became part of ClarisWorks sometime after 1987. I think mine is the last release before that happened. I'll check when I get home.

I have a boxed copy of...I think...MacTerminal 4. Is the Comms Toolbox what you're looking for?
