I should have done a desktop shot of all three drives mounted, I may have one somewhere. This screen shot is of Pipe Dream. This is the copy protection where you match pipe parts with a daisy wheel full of pipes. Great game.
I've daisy chained three of them and they work like a charm. I was reading through an AppleShare Administrator's Guide and it noted you could "attach up to nine hard disks in all - up to two Hard Disk 20's or their equivalent, and up to seven Hard Disk 20SC's or their equivalent" maybe this...
I think Mac128 has the answer. Retrobright the working 512/Plus conversion. If you think it's nice now, wait until you Retrobright it! Then, if you don't want to fool with it yourself, take your other Mac to someone and have it worked on instead of parting one out.
Well, I seem to have lost contact with the seller anyway. I think I'll just try out my 4/600. Before the website crash I seem to remember a tutorial on how to get one working locally. I printed it for future reference but now I can't find those instructions. I'm sure if I play with it I can...
Dang James! Maybe you should get your will straightened out so a dear friend of yours could inherit the SE/30. Although, at that price it would certainly go to someone who would appreciate it. My favorite Mac is a compact Mac and you're shooting for the the king's crown of compact Macs...
Wow, that was quite a read. Thanks for that link Bunsen.
I'd like to keep the clamshell running 9.2.2 but I do have a 10.0 CD somewhere. I like 9 on the iBook though so I'll probably leave it alone. I'm using the clamshell because I can easily use it as a bridge between home and work. I...
Well dang. I bet I could still use something like Claris Works (since I have that for both) for file transfers but I really wanted something networkable. I'll hunt around tonight for an ethernet card for the SE/30. I'm sure I've got one somewhere. I'll still need to update the Chooser on my...
I'm full of questions this week...
I wasn't getting enough 68k Mac time lately so I packed up my SE/30 and cleared off a spot on my desk for it at work. So far, mission accomplished. I've been using it on my lunch breaks and before and after work. I now have a networking dilemma, however. I...
Well, as far as toner goes there are several on eBay right now. There's an auction selling some for $8, another for $24. I was unaware of how it printed large black areas! That's good to know. I do have a LaserWriter 4/600 PS. This printer can only be used over a network, right? If I can...
I've been able to find the Keyspan 28XG drivers but my 28X A doesn't like them. Maybe I'm just missing them but I don't see a driver for it. It's the USB twin serial adapter, I'm trying to network my clamshell running 9.2 with my SE running 7.1. Thanks in advance!
Thanks K! I actually have a 4/600 PS but isn't it a network only printer? I've used it on a network but not locally. I think the appeal of the ImageWriter/ImageWriter Plus is purely nostalgia. It's impractical but I still want one, what can I say. Maybe I'll keep up the hope of finding one...
Hmm. So maybe I'm just a crazed early Mac nut. You don't think there's any way this'd go in a box through the UPS system? It'd have to go freight? That might cost a couple hundred dollars.
These printers aren't common anymore, are they? I just don't see them crop up on eBay much. I agree it would take a conscientious shipper to get it to me without damage but if my chances of getting it intact are slim maybe I should just hold off. I'm not likely to find one locally though.
I've been rooting around for a while now trying to get a LaserWriter for my Mac Plus. I happened to find a LaserWriter Plus about a month ago on Craigslist but it wasn't local. The seller told me if someone local didn't claim it they would then consider shipping it. Eventually someone claimed...
Anonymous Freak, the interactive map sounds pretty cool. Also, sweet link! I've been to Danny Goodman's site before but didn't notice the sample stacks. I'll have to download those. I was all over Hypercard a few months ago but a hectic life made me lose some steam.
I would love to see Bill share some of the Hypercard stacks fans have sent him over the years. Surely he still has them. Anonymous Freak, that sounds awesome! Cool use of Hypercard.
Ken - That's a pretty cool project. No one seems to use Hypercard anymore, not even the guys here. I'm with you though. I've spent some time collecting Hypercard how-to books and have run through a few of them. I still like Hypercard and think it has a lot of use left in it. You certainly...
