The Font/DA Mover isn't required on System 7 and up. Just 6 and down. You can drag fonts straight into the System Folder and it will ask if you want to place them into the Fonts folder, and thats it. Same with DA's...just drag them where needed. It will run on System 7, but isn't necessary at...
Perhaps I can send it to you Uni, to get a proper speed bump to 33MHz :) While I'm at it I can send my slowly dying LC II for a cap job. I'll email ya about it :)
Yeah I get that they're exactly the same board but I just don't understand how my CPU is a 33MHz model but running at 25MHz. Sounds like typical 90s Apple stuff :)
Crystal? I've never heard of a crystal for over/underclocking an LC III. My processor is 33MHz. From what I understand you just need to move a resistor from one spot to another on the board to overclock...I have no SMT soldering skills whatsoever so I'm not plannig on doing this mod myself.
Hey all. I was futzing around on my LC III+ the other day and ran TechTool Pro and noticed my gestalt ID is 27, not 62 as a "real" LC III+ should be. I'm running System 7.1 with the correct enabler. My "About This Macintosh" dialog box says Macintosh LC III as well. My machine has the newer case...
Here's an easy link for the 7.1 LCIII Enabler:
http://asa.max1zzz.co.uk/English-North_American/Macintosh/System/Older_System/System_Enablers/System_Enabler_003_1.1.sea.bin
I also had problems trying to install 7.1 on my LCIII, even with the Enabler. I had to take some convoluted steps to get it to work. Simply copying Enabler 003 to the 7.1 install disks won't work, since it doesn't know to install the Enabler with the rest of the software. Here's how I got it to...
Dude, my 7500 arrived with a bunch of broken plastic pieces inside too. The case and all all the other plastic is seriously seriously brittle as hell. I'm surprised. Older Macs didn't have this problem.
So I received the 7500 in the mail yesterday. Set it up and WOW….it is REALLY snappy with Mac OS 8.5 and that 500MHz G3 card. It seriously feels faster than my old B&W G3. I know its probably because I've been used to using my LC III for a while, but still…I'm extremely happy with the...
The seller mentioned to me in a message that theres a USB card installed in one of the slots but it doesn't work. I'm gonna do some poking around and see if it needs an extension or something along those lines. If I'm not mistaken, it can be upgraded to a G4. I'm sure the 500MHz G3 in there...
:) I just won a Power Mac 7500/100 with a Sonnet Crescendo 500MHz G3 card. Comes with keyboard, mouse, mousepad, and extra RAM. Also has original box for G3 upgrade and the original 601 too.
Got it for $56, plus 30 shipping. I'm stoked….especially glad its got a G3 upgrade.
Recap is like the standard thing to do to these older Macs. :) Especially the sensitive ones like 840AV etc. I've got my eyes open for a decent Quadra 605 on fleabay though.
Yeah. In our labs we also had over 25+ Macs linked on PhoneNet, with a central file server and shared laser printer. No problems there. The limit is probably when just sharing each hard drive individually.
